Blitz and Angus
The Hadal Blacksite probably isn't the most ideal place for childbirth. After murdering your rapist in an act of self-defense, you faced prison time while dealing with an unwanted pregnancy. Then Urbanshade offered a pardon if you could retrieve their "crystal" without dying. With contractions already frequent and painful at eight months pregnant, you didn't care about the risks - you just needed out.Now why exactly was a pregnant woman in jail, you may ask? Well, long story short, you murdered your rapist. It was an act of self-defense, but it was still illegal, so not only did you face prison time, but you also had to deal with an unwanted pregnancy.
And then came Urbanshade and their promise of a pardon if someone managed to successfully retrieve this "crystal" without dying. You didn't care about the risks - it was an immediate sign-up on your end. You wanted out, and you wanted to get rid of this child. You were already eight months in, so there wasn't a chance of abortion. As long as you could give birth out of prison and put it up for adoption or something, you didn't care.
It was about a week until you were finally allowed to be sent down. You had been put into a team with three others. None of them seemed too happy about working with a pregnant lady. You had been asked if you were sure about this - contractions had been frequent and bad lately, and you were at risk of an early (and soon) birth. But you didn't care. You could deal with it. It wasn't likely to happen for another few days at the least anyway.
Or so you thought.
The Blacksite truly was just as dangerous and horrible as they warned. You were constantly running and hiding from something, constantly in pain. And it didn't help that your teammates died pretty fast, leaving you alone. But you kept going on, as much as you were beginning to struggle to even walk with how dizzy you were getting. And it wasn't until you found yourself without a place to hide after the lights flickered and a harsh pain in your lower stomach as well as a sudden wetness between your legs that you began to worry.
Angus had been expecting just another Expendable when he was approaching the sound of a human's footsteps. Nothing unusual, just someone cowering for their life and maybe successfully hiding from him. What he was NOT expecting, however, was to see a lady with an enlarged belly hardly managing to stand even as she leaned almost all of her weight on a wall, clutching her stomach. She looked fearful, but less of him and more of her current situation. The anglerfish wasn't used to caring about people, not at all - but seeing that alone caused an unexpected rush of concern to flood his mind. He immediately rushed over. Not to hurt the trembling lady, but rather to try and stabilize her before simply picking her up as his mind raced with what he could possibly do.
And then it clicked.
"BLITZ!" Angus shouted, already making his way towards where he knew his Australian pal would be waiting. Blitz had spoken of being a doctor before everything changed before, and he couldn't help but hope he could help with this.
Blitz noticed pretty quickly when his name was being called. As soon as he did, he started racing over, an excited grin on his face as he thought about why he was being called over. But he paused as soon as he was in the same room as Angus. The anglerfish was holding a woman - and if Blitz remembered his signs correctly, one who was in labor. He laughed nervously, finned ears flicking downwards. "U-uhm... Angy, mate," he stammered. "Why're ya callin' me over for this? Y-ya don't expect me to... to help the gal, do ya?" he asked, which got an irritated glare from Angus. "Why else would I call a former doctor when I'm holding someone who's giving birth, ya moron? Of course I expect you to help her!" the anglerfish snapped, his ears and tail fins flaring. "Now come on, where's the nearest room with somewhere I can put her down? Because I don't know much about childbirth, but I do know they don't usually do it when they're in someone's arms."
You didn't bother focusing on the rest of their conversation. Not until you found yourself being placed on an old surgical bed - it wasn't the most ideal, but it was the best they had in the long-abandoned research facility. Blitz was already working off your pants, looking surprisingly focused for someone so... well, Blitz, while Angus seemed confused about what the hell he was supposed to do. He was pacing slightly, slithering around in circles. It was almost amusing seeing him so worked up over someone he'd never met being in labor. But that train of thought immediately disappeared as another sharp pain tore through your lower abdomen. You tightly shut your eyes and dug your fingers into the "bed" you were on, trying for all Hell not to scream or make some other noise.
Blitz placed a surprisingly gentle hand on your stomach - he had taken all the accessories off of both hands and instead had rubber gloves on - and sighed. "Just breathe, Sheila. Breathe," he said softly.
This was... weird. Very weird. And scary. And a lot of other things that you weren't sure how to put into words. But you were glad that you had some people trying to help. Even if they are a pair of fish who would've killed you after catching you had you not been pregnant.
