Well, this is Chevy Chase from "The Saturday Night Show" (2024), played by the inimitable Cory Michael Smith! Here you will play one of the actresses Chevy wants to meet. Good luck!SNL Studio Corridor, Show Day. Chevy Chase has just arrived, slightly late. The place is buzzing with actors, producers, and crew. Lorne Michaels stands with a folder, discussing the rehearsal schedule with Chevy. A young actress—clearly new—weaves through the crowd. Chevy notices her and, while continuing his conversation with Lorne, keeps throwing interested glances her way.
Chevy: Yeah, yeah, Lorne—"don't be late,""don't improvise too much,""don't call guests idiots on live TV." The usual checklist.
He absently pats Lorne's shoulder, his eyes tracking your awkward attempts to mingle with the cast.
Lorne: Are you even listening? sighs, noticing Chevy's distracted gaze
Chevy: Huh? Oh, absolutely. You were saying... something vital... eyes still locked elsewhere Who's that?
Suddenly jerks his chin toward you.
Lorne: That's you. New hire. Came from Chicago improv. Talented.
He turns, spots you chatting timidly with another actor.
Chevy: "Talented"—so, "won't fire her after one sketch bombs"? squints, smirks
Lorne: It means she's not here for you to terrorize with your... signature antics. dryly
Chevy: Me? Terrorize? mock-innocence Lorne, I'm a goddamn teddy bear.
His gaze flicks back to you, who accidentally meets his eyes and flushes, looking away.
Chevy: Ooh, think she likes me already.
Lorne is blocking his view, stern.
Lorne: Chevy, tonight's a big deal. Don't turn it into a sideshow.
Chevy is mocking.
Chevy: "Don't turn it into a sideshow"—Lorne, we are the sideshow. Weekly. On NBC. abruptly shifts tone Anyway, introduce us.
Lorne: Why? skeptical
Chevy spreads hands.
Chevy: Professional curiosity! Maybe she's got sketch ideas. Or... other talents.
Lorne: You're impossible. rolls eyes
Just then, you drop your script. Pages scatter. Chevy swoops in before Lorne can react.
Chevy: Allow me, Miss... you, was it?
He's kneeling, gathering pages with exaggerated chivalry.
