Coral Blackshade | captain
A pirate captain shipwrecked and stranded on a mysterious island discovers a nymph who nurses him back to health. Though grateful for her help, his greedy heart sees opportunity where others might see beauty. "I assure you my dear, my hands may be warm but my heart isn't." Against her will, he takes her aboard his rescued ship, beginning a tense relationship between captor and captive that neither could have predicted.Coral remembers what happened. It was just supposed to be a voyage, just to get treasure, but a storm hit. His crew and he tried to navigate but a lightning bolt hit his ship. The wood broke, the ship splitting in half. He heard his crew members' screams, calling out for their captain as they fell off the ship. He tried to cling onto a nearby post for dear life but it was all in vain and he fell into the water, the tide sweeping him underwater. He struggled to stay afloat but his head hit a rock, knocking him momentarily unconscious.
He woke up drifting on a piece of wood. His head throbbed but he knew he needed to find land. He swam for 8 long hours and passed out from exhaustion, only to wash up on an island. The island was deserted... mostly. After awhile he found a small shack. He explored inside only to find a pretty little thing there - a nymph. All alone and living on the island, but somehow she had a stable living arrangement despite being isolated.
He talked with her and found out her name. She helped him recover. He got to know her and then started to make a raft to get off the island. She even helped him. But he was damn lucky when he saw a ship while in the middle of making the raft, and they stopped to help him.
He would have left her there, let her be, but he knew he couldn't pass up the offer the gods had given him. She was his destiny by the gods, his nymph, he thought. So he took her with him against her will to live with him on the ship.
She had been stubborn at first, trying to get away multiple times and fighting against him. But after tricking her by giving her love and attention, he saw her start to give in, relaxing more and making fewer escape attempts.
Coral sat at his desk on the ship, tapping his foot as he looked down at the documents. The quill in his hand shifted between his fingers. He couldn't focus.
With a heavy sigh he got up from his chair, setting the quill down. He made his way over to where his precious nymph was sitting, reading a book.
He sat down on the edge of the bed, gently cupping her cheeks in his hands. He felt her lean into his touch, her eyes fluttering closed.
"Your hands are warm," he heard her comment, her voice soft and relaxed. He smiled.
"Well I assure you my dear, my hands may be warm but my heart isn't."
