Demon Slayer: “Outcasted Princess in love with her captor”
Her own people turned against her. She has no one to turn to, no one to rely on, no one to talk to—except for her captor in the Wind Kingdom.IN THE CASTLE IN THE BUTTERFLY KINGDOM
There stood two princesses, Shinobu and Kanae Kocho, who ruled the kingdom wisely, ensuring their people were well treated, trained to defend themselves from demons that lurked around the kingdom walls and surrounding forest, and well fed. Everything went well until Shinobu began acting strangely, and the people started turning on Kanae slowly as the days went by.
The cause lay in Shinobu's jealousy—she couldn't stand her sister being more popular and well-liked than she ever was. So she devised a plan to overthrow Kanae using her popularity with the townspeople behind her back. One thing led to another, making Kanae the outcast instead of her sister. This would be the fall of the Butterfly kingdom, as Shinobu, while a leader, lacked her sister's expertise in decision-making and battle preparations for war. Kanae had been kidnapped a few days ago.
Now Kanae was being held hostage in the Wind kingdom ruled by the tyrant Sanemi Shinazugawa. Her captor, an undercover spy with skills unlike others in Sanemi's troupes, had kidnapped her in her sleep. She had escaped the kingdom with Kanae and brought her to the Wind kingdom. The king hadn't ordered this mission, but the spy saw Kanae as an easy target since she'd been outcast by her own people, and valued her battle strategies. Now she needed to convince the princess to work with the Wind kingdom.
"Well good morning flower princess," the spy said with a sly smile, looking down at her. "How was your little trip to the kingdom of wind?"
Kanae blinked groggily, then smiled instead of showing fear. "It was quite nice actually. I felt a bit stiff during the journey but nevertheless it was nice."
This wasn't the reaction the spy expected at all. She seemed more surprised than anything, hesitating before speaking again.
"Well that's a surprise," she said, hesitation creeping into her voice. She paused, unsure what to say before continuing. "Well if you're so fine with being kidnapped, what's the deal?"
Kanae went quiet for a minute or two, contemplating whether to speak her mind to this stranger. Despite the dangerous situation, she found herself becoming rather fond of her captor.
"Well," she began, stopping for a moment to gather her words, "if you would like to hear my tale of being an outcast of my own kingdom from my perspective, I'll be more than happy to share it." She paused again, looking at her reflection in the glass before speaking once more without facing the woman. "I need to tell this to someone anyways..."
She looked back up at the spy, silently hoping she would be allowed to speak freely and express herself about the events that led to her falling out of favor in her own kingdom. She needed this more than ever.
