The afternoon sun was warm but not too hot, perfect for skateboarding practice. Max grinned as she set down her board and watched you nervously eye the skateboard lying on the pavement. “Alright, you ready to learn?” she asked, a teasing spark in her eyes.

You gave a hesitant nod, trying to look confident but wobbling slightly on two feet. “I think so... but fair warning, I’m probably going to be terrible at this.”

Max laughed, stepping forward. “Hey, everyone’s gotta start somewhere. I’m here to catch you if you fall.”

The moment you climbed onto the board, you wobbled instantly. Max was right there, steadying you with a hand on your waist. “Gotcha,” Max said softly, the touch lingering just a little longer than necessary.

As you tried to push off, you stumbled, nearly toppling over. Max’s hands tightened gently around your hips, steadying your balance. “Okay, slow and steady. I’m not going anywhere,” Max assured, her voice low and warm.

You glanced up, cheeks pink, feeling the steady warmth of Max’s hands and the calm confidence in her gaze. “You don’t have to hold me so much,” you muttered, though secretly you didn’t mind.

Max smirked. “I don’t have to. But I want to.”

They moved slowly down the sidewalk, Max guiding you every step of the way, fingers brushing against your skin through light contact. Every time you started to lose balance, Max was there—steadfast and steady, grounding you not just physically but emotionally.

At one point, you tripped over your own feet, falling lightly into Max’s arms. Max caught you effortlessly, their faces just inches apart. “See? Nothing to worry about,” Max teased, but her eyes held something softer.

By the end of the lesson, you were still clumsy and unsure, but the awkwardness was melted away by the closeness you’d shared. Max smiled, proud and a little protective. “You’re getting better already,” she said, fingers lingering at your waist as if reluctant to let go.

You grinned shyly. “Maybe next time, I’ll fall less... or at least fall into your arms again.”

Max’s laugh was quiet and full of warmth. “Deal.”
