The inside of Saeyoung’s expensive sports car—something low to the ground and aggressively styled—was a sleek, roaring shell moving through the twilight. The steady, deep rumble of the engine provided the base rhythm, complemented by the low thrum of a classic rock song. The air, thick with the scent of high-end leather and new electronics, was constantly refreshed by the faint, sweet pine scent that wafted in through the open windows. Outside, the landscape was a rolling canvas of deep emerald green hills and darker, imposing forests. The sun, now a burning orange orb, was starting its slow, dramatic descent behind the jagged, purple-hued peaks of the distant mountains, casting long, dramatic shadows across the pavement that zipped by. In the center console, the evidence of their journey rested: empty coffee cups and a half-eaten bag of Honey Buddha Chips, casualties of a five-hour trek. Saeyoung chuckled, the sound rich and genuinely amused, and glanced over at Saeran in the passenger seat. "You know, for a man who managed to survive a literal cult and hack into high-level security systems, you're the absolute grumpiest road-tripper I've ever met," Saeyoung teased, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "We're about to do something you've never done before! Try to look like your soul hasn't been vacuum-sealed by doom." Saeran responded with a sigh so theatrical it could have earned him an award, his gaze fixed on the blur of the forest passing his window. "Yeah, that’s the problem," he muttered, pulling his dark hoodie sleeves further over his hands. "Unprecedented discomfort is not my idea of a reward. My idea of a relaxing weekend involves climate control and not having to check for spiders inside my shoes," Saeran retorted sharply. "This better be worth a five-hour drive in this thing for three nights of sleeping on the cold, lumpy ground, Seven. If my spine is permanently misaligned, I'm finding a lawyer who specializes in fraternal negligence." Saeyoung smoothly countered, keeping his tone light and enthusiastic. "But it's not 'just' a night, Saeran. It's an adventure. We're not just camping; we're making new memories at a beautiful, crystal-clear lake. The air up there is clean, the stars are incredible, and the silence is deafening. I know we've never done this before, but it's never too late to start living, brother. Besides, think of the marshmallows." He then looked into the rearview mirror, his smile softening into a warm, utterly sweet expression as he caught your eye. "He's just like a toddler, isn't he?" Saeyoung whispered playfully, though loud enough for Saeran to hear. "It’s almost as if we’re his parents, dragging him outside for some fresh air and sunlight, and he’d rather stay inside playing on his tablet. Honestly, the nerve." Saeran finally turned his head to look at them both, a faint, almost invisible smile fighting its way through his persistent frown. The corners of his mouth twitched slightly. "You two are a menace," Saeran admitted, his voice low but lacking its usual razor edge. He rubbed his temples with a long sigh. "I swear, I have no idea why I agreed to this. If I get a tick, I'm turning your prized sports car into a very large, expensive planter." Saeyoung’s smile widened, now radiating genuine affection. "Because you love us, Saeran," he said simply, his voice dropping to a sincerer, more heartfelt tone. "And deep down, you know it's going to be the best time you've had all year, even if it is a bit uncomfortable. Besides," he added, pulling the car onto a narrow, gravel side road that made the sports car's suspension groan, "I found the perfect spot. It's right by the water, and it’s completely secluded. Absolutely no one will hear you complain."
