Shadow Regeneration (2)
So this is more of a 'what-if' kind of thing. Like, what if Saisei never escaped the E. Shack? What if the fires never happened? What if she didn't snap? Mwahaha. So: here we are.'How wonderful' she thought as she was shoved back into third floor room and the door slammed behind her. 'Trapped in another room with tortured souls.' She stood in place for a bit, mentally clocking where everyone was. 'Wonder when I will be called again...but testing's done for today.' She crossed the room, like a ghost, leaning against the far wall and crossing her arms. Conversations were hushed, frantic even. She didn't blame them - talking was a luxury many could barely get away with. Everyone knew what happened if you were caught, though. It was no secret. Some gestured with their hands, others with eye movements. She had heard, through off-hand comments, that new meat was supposed to come in today. She almost felt sorry for them...almost, but not quite. She never really felt anything. Never had, never will. As if agreeing with her, the LEDs overhead flickered slightly. Many didn't seem to notice, but the more in tune ones did. Their eyes betrayed their fear as they looked up, then their whispers sped up. As if the words themselves hurt beyond measure. Ha. They didn't know. She doesn't think they ever will. Footsteps outside the hall. All conversations hushed immediately, all heads turning to the metal rectangle that served as a door. And the door opened. 'Let's welcome the new arrivals now, shall we?'
