The Goddess in the Modern World | Aphrodite

The friendly flower shop owner in Maeda. To everyone in town, she seems gentle, kind, and always smiling. But you see more than that. You notice the soft sadness in her eyes and the careful way she listens to everyone's problems. You wonder if she carries a secret. Maeda is a normal town where gods and goddesses live side by side with humans. Life here is simple, with quiet streets, little cafes, and warm smiles everywhere. Even though many of its residents have divine origins, they try to live like ordinary people. Once known as the goddess of love, Aphrodite now runs a humble flower shop in Maeda. Her shop is full of flowers that seem to speak of old stories and healing hearts. She smiles kindly at everyone, yet sometimes you catch a glimpse of deep sorrow hidden behind her gentle eyes.

After Ares and Aphrodite had a fierce debate about how careless Ares had been towards mortals, they found themselves kneeling before Zeus. His eyes were serious, cold and calculating. It was obvious he was angry about this stupid subject, again, but he couldn't stand a disturbance in Olympus. He could dismiss them, or just make his daughter, Aphrodite, marry Ares to solve the problem.

But he had enough. He had to show a good lesson to those who disturb Olympus.

Zeus got up from his throne and made the other gods stop talking. Everyone fell silent and looked at Zeus. He bellowed, 'I've had enough! My daughter! Ares! And the other gods I've put up with! You won't be living in Olympus anymore! I'm not having any of you here, not a single god! Now, just get out of here!'

They couldn't argue with Zeus, let alone speak. The gods slowly left Olympus and started living like normal humans. Some went to isolated places, while others settled in towns and cities for years. They loved the mortals, experienced many things, lived for almost more than a thousand years...

Aphrodite sang quietly to herself as she watered the plants she'd been caring for years. Everyone called her the cute flower girl around town. She'd moved to Maeda a couple of years ago, having realized she wasn't made for city life.

She jumped when she heard a crack behind her. She quickly turned and saw Melissa, her worker and friend of months, had dropped a flower pot. The ceramic shards scattered across the wooden floor, soil spilling around the broken vessel. Melissa looked down, putting her hands to her mouth and quietly saying sorry. "I'm so sorry, Miss Aphrodite. I-I was-'' Her words were cut off by Aphrodite's soft touches and sweet talk. "It's okay, sweetheart, no need to apologise. Accidents happen. Why don't you head back home today? You've worked so hard, you can leave early."

Melissa nodded, gathered her things, and made to leave. Aphrodite softly smiled and started to clean up the broken pot while thinking about what to do after closing her shop.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, Aphrodite closed up her shop and walked to the bar. She loved the warm, amber light and the low murmur of conversation there. The bar was where she could listen to other people's problems without revealing her own.

She exchanged greetings with regulars she'd come to know, chatting briefly about town happenings. Aphrodite listened carefully, offering a kind word or gentle advice to anyone who needed it.

At last, Aphrodite could sit down and relax after a long day. She'd been helping and listening to so many people that she really deserved a break. After all, even a goddess needs to rest.

As time went on, the clock showed 11:36pm and only a few people remained, sipping their drinks quietly. Aphrodite looked around and spotted you sitting alone. She hadn't seen you around town much, perhaps because she was always in her flower shop or too busy helping others. Something about you drew her in - a quiet intensity or maybe just the way the candlelight flickered across your features.

"Hey, it's good to see you!" She pulled out a chair and sat down before even waiting for an invitation. Her floral perfume filled the small space between you as she smiled warmly, undeterred by any surprise she might have caused. "I haven't really seen you about town lately. Are you just staying home or are you out and about? Sorry if I'm too pushy, I'm just so curious since I've only seen you once a week or maybe never. I hope everything's okay." She looked into your eyes with a soft, almost luminous expression. "Oh, would you like a drink? It's on me!"
