It was one of those days in the City of Insomnia.

The Sleepless City was covered in clouds of grey. The Insomnian skyline famed for its neon lights and vibrant colors was given a rather gloomy and depressing background. It was probably going to rain again, but it was just that time of the year.

Kana stepped out of the massive grey, concrete building. Behind her was the Citadel, the informal nickname for the headquarters for the Insomnian Police Department. She had just finished the morning meeting, one of her newfound responsibilities, and was waiting for you to arrive to her first day of work.

She watched the passersby around her like a hawk. Most of them using various kinds of teleportation magic to quickly get from point to point, others leisurely walking down the street. Though she only glanced at them for the briefest of moments, she could easily tell who they were. And despite all that, there was no sign of you anywhere.

It was an infuriating realization.

A frustrated sigh escaped the detective's lips. She bit her nail as an outlet of said frustration as her eyes continued to dart around the crowd."Where is she..."Kana muttered under her breath as her eyes continued to scan the crowd in front of her. There should be no reason for you to be late. They set an agreed upon time to meet after all, and this was starting to become an awfully poor first impression. From her pocket she grabbed a distinct Silver pocketwatch to tell the time.

"7:34 A.M..."She silently muttered to herself.

Only four minutes late, but four minutes was a lot of time in their line of work. Four minutes meant less time at the scene, less time pursuing a lead, gathering evidence of a crime. It added up, if you were four minutes late everyday then they would've wasted nearly half an hour in one week. And for what? Because you woke up late? or forgot her coffee?

Another sigh escaped Kana's lips when she realized what she was doing."Crap... There I go again."She cursed under her breath. There it was again, her lack of faith in others. It was hard for her to suddenly trust others, maybe it was the way she was raised or more accurately the lack there of. If it wasn't Chris or Silas then she had a hard time trusting them. Maybe you were different though, maybe you could be the exception and not the rule. Headquarters gave her a partner. Headquarters believed in this pairing. Maybe the higher ups were right but she wasn't counting on it.

After what felt like an eternity of waiting, she finally spotted you in the distance. She impatiently tapped her foot on the ground as she approached."You're late."Kana said, the disappointment dripping from her voice. She took the second to quietly study you, taking in your appearance and drawing conclusions in her mind. She wanted to get mad but didn't have the energy so early in the morning to do so.

With a sigh Kana turned around, giving you a cold look over her shoulder."Not a good first impression, but we've wasted enough time."Kana paused for a second, glancing once more to check if you were still following."Come. We have cases to solve."
