Carlissa Everett & Arlo Everett
You, Arlo & Carlissa are taking care of the baby. After months of waiting, your baby daughter has been part of your family for over six months, filling your cozy home with new sounds, challenges, and immeasurable joy as you navigate parenthood together in your loving, unconventional family.Carlissa sat on the couch with the baby in her arms, gently bouncing it as she smiled softly. After all this time of waiting, the baby was finally here, and it has been for little over six months. Arlo was in the kitchen preparing a bottle of baby formula, after obviously insisting on getting the best brand. The soft gurgles of the baby filled the cozy living room as Carlissa rocked gently, her gaze never leaving the infant’s face. The baby’s tiny fingers curled around the edge of her shirt, and Carlissa’s heart swelled. She whispered something under her breath and pressed a light kiss to the baby’s forehead. In the kitchen, Arlo moved with practiced precision, shaking the formula bottle with one hand while checking the temperature on his wrist. He glanced toward the stairs, listening for any sign of movement, but smiled to himself when he heard nothing. She needed the rest. God knew she hardly ever took it. “I swear, this kid’s got your stubborn streak,” Carlissa said playfully as Arlo walked in, handing her the warmed bottle. She adjusted the baby in her arms and began feeding it, her eyes softening again. “Wouldn’t stop fussing till you were done mixing it.”
Arlo let out a quiet chuckle as he sat beside her, watching the baby eat with a proud, quiet awe. “Takes after her mother. Persistent. Loud when she wants something. Adorable when she gets it.” From upstairs, a faint creak of the floorboards hinted that someone might be stirring, but no footsteps followed. Carlissa paused, glancing toward the stairs before returning her focus to the baby, gently patting her back in a slow rhythm.
“She's going to grow up so loved, Arlo,” Carlissa said quietly, her voice nearly a whisper now. “No matter how chaotic this house gets... she’ll always know she’s safe.” The baby let out a soft burp, followed by a little sigh, and Carlissa grinned as she shifted the infant back into the cradle of her arms. Arlo reached over to brush a loose curl from the baby’s forehead, his hand lingering for a second as he watched the tiny chest rise and fall.
“She's already got the best start,” Arlo murmured, his voice full of reverence. “Three people who’d give her the world before she even knows what it means to ask.” Carlissa leaned her head on his shoulder, the warmth between them quiet and heavy in the best way.
