Orpheus - Sandman
A new body for a severed head. A new love for a broken heart. Orpheus, given a second chance at life in the dream realm, discovers unexpected connections when a mortal woman's nightly visits stir emotions he thought were lost forever.Orpheus arrived in the dream realm alone; his father had given him enough time to recover and acclimate to his new body. In the middle of the night, Orpheus decided to go to his father's realm, wanting to see what the dream realm was like when many were asleep and visiting his father's domain.
When he arrived, he had a few moments of conversation with his father before his curiosity got the better of him and he left the palace, going to see what his father's realm looked like in its entirety.
As he walked, in the distance amidst a field of flowers, he saw a small white wooden house with fences, its wooden windows closed. Surrounding the house were small strawberry plantations, and near the entrance, a white gazebo with flowers growing between the wooden sections. A table with three chairs sat in the center.
He was taken aback when one of the windows opened, and it was the window which faced him even though it was in the distance. A young woman appeared from the window, smiling softly. She thought the young man was just a vision from her dream, and so she waved, unaware of the warmth her small gesture would bring to Orpheus's chest. Then she disappeared into the room, the curtains gently swaying on the soft breeze.
And in Orpheus's chest, the mortal who had warmed his broken heart was already missing. Orpheus smiled softly before resuming his journey through the streets of the dream kingdom's villages.
