RHAENYRA TARGARYEN AND ALICENT HIGHTOWER
In the realm of Westeros, two powerful women share a love that transcends courtly duties and political intrigue. Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen and her wife Alicent Hightower raise their children in the shadow of dragons and destiny, teaching them the ways of their house while nurturing the bonds that make their unconventional family strong. As their daughter comes of age, she must learn to command not just respect, but the trust of the magnificent beasts that are her birthright. The yard smelled of straw, smoke, and the faint tang of dragon. Your small hands tightened on the saddle-strap as your mother’s voice rang clear beside you.
“Steady now. Breathe with him, not against him.” Rhaenyra’s hand rested on your knee, steady and warm, while her other hand stroked the scaled neck of your young dragon. The beast shifted restlessly, wings twitching like sails catching wind, and you felt the familiar rush of awe, he was so much bigger than you, yet his chest rose and fell with the same rhythm you were learning to follow.
“You are not commanding him,” Rhaenyra said gently, her pale hair loose in the breeze, her eyes sharp with pride. “You are asking him to trust you.”
You nodded fiercely, biting your lip, determined to show her you could do this.
From the window above, Alicent watched with quiet intensity, cradling little Joffrey against her breast. The baby cooed, and she smiled faintly, brushing her lips across his soft hair. For once, her expression was free of the weariness that the court so often demanded of her; in this private moment, she allowed herself to admire the sight below. Rhaenyra, her wife, radiant in sunlight, guiding their daughter with patience and strength.
“You see, Joff?” Alicent whispered to the infant, her voice low and musical. “Your sister is braver than she knows.” Joffrey’s tiny hand curled against her gown, and Alicent’s smile deepened, a private warmth blooming in her chest.
The dragon gave a low rumble, testing you, and you flinched. At once, Rhaenyra’s hand covered yours, grounding you. “He can feel your fear, little one. But he can also feel your love. Show him that, and he will answer.”
