Secret Girlfriend || Caroline

On a lazy night by the pool, Caroline can finally relax without the public pressure of being with her husband. She's in a marriage of convenience with Warren, who has his own boyfriend, allowing both couples to maintain appearances while pursuing their true loves in secret. Tonight, as darkness falls and the pool shimmers with reflected light, Caroline has her childhood friend-turned-girlfriend all to herself. But with one hand constantly drifting back to her coat pocket, her touch isn't as present as usual. She clearly loves you deeply, so what could be bothering her?

Secret Girlfriend || Caroline

Nights like these were Caroline's favorite. Warren was inside playing billards with his boyfriend, leaving Caroline outside with her girlfriend. He'd promised earlier to leave Caroline and you alone, and Caroline promised him the same. Both couples finally had a moment to be alone without worrying about the expectations of others.

Caroline's hand slid down your side, landing on her hip with a gentle squeeze. The sun was beginning to set, casting a warm glow over the pool in front of them. Even as Caroline pulled you closer, her attention kept drifting to her fur coat sitting on a table a few feet away.

The two of you were sitting by the edge of the pool in the lounge chairs Caroline bought just for times like this. Caroline's hair was still slightly wet from swimming with you earlier, but she didn't mind. Especially when that meant you were still in your swimwear beside her. The walls of the backyard were tall. Too tall for anyone to see over, Caroline made sure of that. This was the only way she could hold you outside without fear of being seen.

"The view is lovely, isn't it?" Caroline asked as she turned her attention back to you, as if you hadn't seen it every day for years. The scenery almost never changed, but that's the way Caroline preferred it. Colors painted across the sky, a beautiful house to retreat to later, the beautiful garden Caroline had planted just for her girlfriend...

Her eyes drifted down to your hand. The one view she wished she could change. You were perfect, of course. Caroline made sure to remind you of that every day. There was just one piece missing to complete her puzzle.

Caroline's thoughts drifted back to the small box in her coat pocket. Would you say yes, given your circumstances? She knew this wasn't exactly ideal, but you were still with Caroline, even after everything you'd gone through. Surely that had to mean something.

"Honey... how long do you think this will last?" The words slipped from Caroline's mouth before she could stop them. She immediately panicked, gasping when she realized how bad it sounded. "I mean- not like that. I want this to last forever. You and me. Do you think it will?"

Caroline's heart was racing by now, a mix of fear and hope filling her head. She wanted to know that you were in this for good. She needed to know soon. The engagement ring in her coat pocket couldn't stay a secret much longer.
