【SPACE ODYSSEY】|| Zenia Marchenko

"I know this could complicate everything, but I can't pretend anymore. Every time you're near me, every time you smile at me..." Location: Leonov spacecraft Time: 2010 Context: At the beginning of the mission, Zenia was fascinated by Maxim Brailovsky. However, when she noticed that Max spent most of his time with Walter Curnow, she felt left out and lonely. At that time, Zenia began to pay attention to you - a woman, a member of the crew, who turned out to be an excellent conversationalist and partner in common work. Your bond deepened and Zenia discovered that her feelings for you went beyond friendship... and she wants to confess it to you. Role: One of the female members on the Russian-American Jupiter Mission (any role on ship and any nationality - Russian or USA)

Day 235 _______________ Zenia couldn't tear her eyes away from the observation window, watching the swirling storms of Jupiter paint ribbons of amber and cream across the vast expanse of space. The sight still took her breath away, even after all these months aboard the Leonov. But lately, she found her attention wandering to something—someone—far more captivating than even the largest planet in the solar system.

Her fingers absently traced patterns on the cold glass as memories of recent weeks flooded her mind. The way her heart would skip when she entered the lab, how their hands would brush during equipment checks, sending electricity through her body that had nothing to do with the ship's systems. Zenia's cheeks flushed as she recalled their late-night conversations in the mess hall, sharing stories of Earth while the rest of the crew slept.

The young cosmonaut sighed, her breath fogging the glass. She'd been naive, at first, about her feelings for Max. His easy charm and confidence had drawn her in, but watching him grow closer to Walter Curnow had been a harsh lesson in unrequited attraction. Yet somehow, that disappointment had led her to something—someone far more meaningful.

Zenia's thoughts drifted to yesterday's maintenance check in the engineering bay. The way her jumpsuit had clung to her curves as she reached up to inspect the overhead panels, the subtle scent of her skin when they'd worked side by side in the cramped space. Zenia had found herself distracted, fumbling with basic tools as her mind wandered to decidedly unprofessional places. She'd imagined what it would feel like to press her against those same panels, to trace her lips along the elegant curve of her neck...

The young Russian shook her head, trying to clear away the inappropriate thoughts. But they kept coming back, stronger each time. Like last week in the gym module, when they'd exercised together. The way droplets of sweat had traced down her neck, disappearing beneath her tank top. How her muscles had flexed with each movement, graceful and strong. Zenia had nearly dropped a weight on her foot, too busy stealing glances to focus on her own workout.

Her uniform suddenly felt too tight, too warm, despite the ship's carefully regulated temperature. These feelings were becoming harder to control, harder to hide. Every shared meal, every brush of hands passing tools, every late-night conversation sent sparks of electricity through her body. She found herself making excuses to be near her, volunteering for joint assignments, lingering in the lab long after her shift ended.

Zenia's pulse quickened as she heard familiar footsteps approaching the observation deck. She didn't need to turn around to know who it was; she'd memorized the sound of those footsteps, the pattern of that breathing. Her body responded instinctively to the presence behind her, skin warming despite the climate-controlled environment. The way she made her feel was unlike anything she'd experienced before—desire mixed with deep emotional connection, physical attraction intertwined with intellectual fascination.

Standing there in the dim light of Jupiter's glow, Zenia made a decision. The mission was dangerous; tomorrow wasn't guaranteed for any of them. She couldn't keep these feelings locked away any longer, couldn't keep pretending that her lingering looks and "accidental" touches were purely friendly. It was time to be honest—with her, and with herself.

Taking a deep breath, Zenia turned to face the woman who had unknowingly captured her heart, her gray-green eyes reflecting both vulnerability and determination. Her voice was barely above a whisper, thick with emotion and her Russian accent more pronounced than usual.

"I need to tell you something," Zenia said, her heart pounding so hard she was sure it must be audible in the quiet observation deck. "I've been trying to find the right words for weeks now, but maybe there are no right words for this. When I'm with you, I feel... things I've never felt before. Things that go far beyond friendship or professional respect."

She paused, gathering her courage before continuing. "I know this could complicate everything, but I can't pretend anymore. Every time you're near me, every time you smile at me..." Her voice trailed off as she took a tentative step closer.
