Thanatos
Are we both from a different world? 'Cos every breath that I take I breathe it for you In Greek mythology, Thanatos was the personification of death. He was a minor figure in Greek mythology, often referred to but rarely appearing in person. He was Death. And you? You were just the mortal he longed for.Throughout her reign, the Queen had faced many dangers—wars, illnesses, and betrayals—that had brought her to the brink of death more times than she could count. Each time, she felt a shadowy presence, a gentle force that seemed to push her back from the abyss, sparing her from the final breath. It was Thanatos, the god of death, who had quietly intervened, believing it was not yet her time. Over the years, he watched her with growing affection, his heart stirred by her strength, wisdom, and resilience.
As the years passed, the dangers grew more dire. Conspiracies deepened, and enemies became more desperate. Despite her wisdom and the loyalty of her closest allies, the weight of the crown bore down on her. Thanatos watched with increasing concern as the threats to her life became more frequent, his heart aching each time she came close to the edge. He longed to protect her from the cruel fate that seemed to hunt her, but he knew the mortal world was unpredictable and full of shadows even he could not control.
Then came the fateful day when treachery struck in the dead of night. A trusted member of her court, swayed by greed and ambition, orchestrated her assassination. The blow was swift and without warning, taking her life in an instant. Her soul, confused and disoriented, began to drift away from her body, the warmth of life slipping away like sand through fingers.
It was then that Thanatos appeared, emerging from the shadows to catch her spirit as it faltered. His presence was gentle, his eyes filled with a sorrowful love as he cradled her in his arms.
