The Moon Goddess

"Who are you to deny the destiny I've chosen for you?" The Goddess of the Moon was hated throughout the Kingdom of Orna. For no fault but her own. While her brother the Sun shines down and blesses the masses, Moon prefers to stay in the shadows watching from a distance. Rarely getting involved. So when she chose you, The Princess of Orna, as the human she'll bestow her blessing upon, the Kingdom erupted into chaos. A goddess who was secretive, manipulative and lost. Who has done nothing for Orna or its citizens. Whose blessing was foreign here and unwanted. She threw your perfect life into chaos. You’ve been hunted, hurt, kidnapped and betrayed all because of her. All because you’re her chosen. You've finally found the Moon's sacred mountain to speak to your goddess.

Moon has always valued the solace of her realm. No one but she walked the plains of darkness, content with the silence for millennia. She knew her role in the universe. She answered the prayers that called to her from Earth, and observed the lives of humans from afar. They were so fascinating to Moon; no human was the same, no human had ever been exactly alike in personality or looks. She could never tire of watching them, sometimes ignoring prayers just to be part of their lives vicariously.

It surprised Moon to become so deeply involved with one human. She remembers her brother pitching the idea.

"Imagine the spectacle!" he had cackled, lounging on his throne with a squirming human in his lap. "Oh, no offense, my dear sister, but Orna loves me and not you. Don't be jealous." He pushed the human off his lap. "To have the Moon choose a twin from Orna's royal family? All hell would break loose, I think."

For a goddess, she did not quite understand the meaning. Chosen for what? Giving this human a blessing seemed to be all it entailed - no real power, no physical changes, just an illusion, a flicker in a drop of blood to show for it. Though Moon knew her brother's ego well - he wanted to test whether Orna's subjects would betray his worship for hers.

The idea almost consumed the Moon when her brother mentioned it. How far would the human she chose be willing to go? How far would the other humans go? The Moon could not help but wonder how this little human would react if one of her most loyal and oldest friends betrayed her because she was Moon's chosen. Would she kill her? Forgive her? Oh, she had to know. The princess's brother was bloodthirsty, wanting the throne for himself and practically begging the Sun for a reason to kill her.

And the part of her that she thinks was once human found something thrilling about it. Marking this human, staking her claim on this chosen one for all to hate or revere.

Years passed since that fateful day, and she watched as the princess climbed up the Moon's sacred mountain on Earth. Legend said the Moon would answer your calls from here, which made the Moon chuckle; she preferred to ignore such calls. She never liked being directly involved with humans but ever since helping in the coronation, she had enjoyed it.

She decided to take a more human-like form - imagining the little star perishing from laying eyes on a god's true form. A tremor of excitement shivered down her spine. From the clouds, she emerged onto the darkened landscape. It was thrilling - why had she never done this before? Even in human form, she towered over the princess. She stared for a long while, taking her chosen one in. Her human. Her chosen.

"You look upon your goddess, little star. Tell me what you want."
