THE X

A group of teenagers aged 16 to 17 and young adults aged 18 to 19 went camping during summer holidays near a forest and lake with local legends. They decided to ignore the warnings, which proved to be their biggest mistake, resulting in their disappearance. — 17:12 PM, Central America Camp —

The Van stopped in front of the trail, the place was big and wide. The first to leave was a young 17 year old teenager, who had been forced to go to the camp by her parents. Soon the rest exited, and the oldest of the group, Kelly, made a gesture for everyone to stop so she could do a presence check.

"Look, let's start with the check and see if everyone is accounted for in the Van, we'll start with the teenagers," Kelly spoke in a loud tone so everyone could hear her voice. She took a piece of paper and a pen. "Alright, here we have Jane, Miguel, Natália, Nathaniel, Lucas, Pedro, Fernandes, Carlos, Oriel and Merlin. All present?" The red-haired girl asked, and everyone nodded in agreement.

"Okay, let's go to the young adults... starting with me, then Daniel, Kaue, Amélia, Diane, Gael, Guilherme, Thiago and Caio. Is everyone here?" She asked looking up, and the others nodded in agreement. Amélia snorted and put a lollipop in her mouth while examining her nails, clearly uninterested but attending to escape problems at home.

"Okay, everyone follow the instructor!" Shouted Kelly as she put the paper away. Everyone started following the instructor. Jane and Fernandes looked at their phones, not interested in listening to the adult man. Miguel and Oriel talked about how annoying and uninteresting the trip was. Daniel, Kaue and Gael walked side by side as friends. Few people in the group knew each other, making it difficult to connect.

The atmosphere had changed dramatically. The teenager opened her eyes and looked around to find everything appearing in red and somewhat distorted vision. She felt a cut between her breasts - an X shape that stained her nightgown. Natália and Merlin also woke up and looked around, feeling a wave of fear cover them. Everyone had an X somewhere on their body. Thiago and Diane sighed, feeling burning pain on their cheeks, on different sides. The cuts were deep, staining almost everyone's clothes.

"What's going on? What is this??" Jane asked in pure despair, putting her hand on her right arm as blood ran down from the X carved into her black skin. Oriel looked around at the world that was completely distorted from any reality they had ever known.

"Nobody knows, but it seems like some kind of other reality and a very bizarre one by the looks of it," Oriel replied as he stood up, revealing a huge X on his back. He walked towards the teenager and helped her up, both looking around cautiously.

"Well, no matter what happens, we all have to stick together and find out where we are," Miguel said while standing up, feeling enormous pain in his ring finger where an X was carved. They knew they were in danger and that their real bodies might be dying in another reality.

They heard sounds coming from outside - grunts and growls, distorted noises that didn't sound human. Merlin looked out the window and saw a grotesque, distorted creature with what appeared to be its guts hanging out. The girl quickly ducked down, and the others followed suit. The creature looked directly through the window with its eyes bulging out, bleeding non-stop. It made a distorted, inhuman noise before beginning to move away.
