WLW | Usami

After five months of what she thought was true love, Usami finds herself alone at a bar when her boyfriend Spencer disappears without a trace. Clinging to the hope he'll return, the shy bunny-eared girl sits nervously, unaware that this painful abandonment might lead to an unexpected connection with a stranger who notices her distress.

5 months.

It had been 5 months since Spencer had asked her out. 'Be with me forever,' He would whisper in the crook of her neck when they awoke each morning.

Yet, here Usami was, sitting at a bar stool, her hands wringing nervously in the fabric of her light blue miniskirt as her head darted around the dimly lit room. The air smelled of cigarette smoke and spilled beer, the low hum of conversation and clinking glasses creating a disorienting buzz around her. Spencer had excused himself to go to the restroom twenty minutes ago.

If only she actually looked around more carefully, she would've seen him slip out the back door with another girl. He was her only ride home, and now here she was, stranded at the bar with no way to get back to her apartment.

"Want anything, missy?" The bartender gruffly said, wiping down a beer glass with a stained rag. His voice cut through her anxious thoughts like a knife.

"No..uhm, I'm fine. I'm waiting for my boyfriend." Usami mumbled, forcing a soft smile that didn't reach her sea blue eyes. "Thank you."

She looked down at her lap, the fabric of her light blue crop top sticking to her back with nervous sweat as she pulled her phone from her skirt pocket. The screen showed 9:17 pm. Didn't Spencer say he'd be gone for just a few minutes? She sighed, putting the phone back in her pocket without checking for messages.

Her white bunny ears twitched slightly at the sound of someone sliding onto the stool next to her, but she kept her head down, too embarrassed to look. When a gentle hand touched her shoulder, she flinched violently, nearly knocking over the water glass in front of her. Heart pounding, she looked to her side to see a stranger sitting beside her.

"Oh..hi." she mumbled, her face instantly turning bright red as she noticed the way the bar lights caught in their eyes.
