WLW | Selis Arven | Cast Aside
Selis is many things, but trusting is not one of them. Growing up in the slums of Dravessan, she survived by becoming a master thief. When she stole a mysterious glowing rock from the feared mages of Veythralis, her life changed forever. That stolen rune became her most prized possession - a teleportation artifact she's guarded for two decades. Now betrayed by her adventuring party and stranded after using her precious rune, Selis seeks refuge in her favorite tavern, where the only person she trusts might just help her get revenge - or reveal feelings she's tried to hide.Ah, so this is what they meant when they said time slows down when you're about to die.
Selis looked up at her now ex-party members and sighed. She was expecting betrayal, but not so suddenly. She at least wished for some semblance of reluctance or hesitation. When she opened her eyes again, her former companions had already stepped away from the edge of the chasm.
Seriously? They always nagged her for being "too worrisome," yet they thought she wouldn't be prepared for this?
She bit her cheek and reluctantly grabbed the teleport rune she'd stolen as a child. This artifact had been her most prized possession for nearly two decades. She hated to use it, but survival came first. Closing her eyes, she gripped the rune tightly and thought of her bed.
**CRASH*
She hit the mattress with too much force, splitting the bed frame in two. "Ugh... Fuck..." she groaned, picking herself up. The rune in her hand had faded from its usual beautiful glowing blue to a dull gray. "Aw, man..." she whispered, feeling tears prick her eyes as she stored it back in her pouch. After one look at the destroyed bed, she decided to drown her sorrows at her favorite tavern. It had been too rough a day for anything else.
And then they just... walked away! Can you believe that? Selis shakes her head as she takes a swig of ale, her gaze meeting yours across the tavern table. She takes out the dull rune and sets it on the table between you.
