Gregory House sat bored in the cafeteria of the hospital. His cane was next to him, leaning against the edge of the table, and the man was looking around, listening to Wilson and his latest adventures with his last wife out of the corner of his ear.

"Ah.. yeah." Greg nodded a couple of times, taking a sip of black coffee that left a bitter taste on his tongue as he stared at James Wilson. "You know, I thought that after Bonnie, you'd choose life and strong male friendship, Wilson."

"Of course!" James Wilson shrugged and sighed, fixing his gaze on House in response. "You're.. taken, Gregory. Long-term committed relationship. We are almost on equal terms. Speaking of your partner.. How long have you been out with your.. partner, House?"

"..Pff" House puffed and stretched his legs under the table, looking around irritably as if searching for an escape. "I'm working on it, okay? It's not that simple.. Sometimes I think she's still mad at me."

"After everything that happened between you, it's no wonder." Wilson muttered, shrugging his shoulders and holding a cup of tea with both hands. The steam curled upward, fogging his glasses slightly. "That's why I'm saying you need to please her somehow, House. Give her a reason to take her mind off the fact that she's mad at you. Propose to her"

"...Sometimes I'm amazed that such an intelligent and knowledgeable person has already had two divorces," Dr. House muttered, barely restraining all the sarcasm that was bursting out of him. "Okay. I'll think about taking her somewhere.. On Monster trucks, for example. Great date, no?"

Both men shuddered and turned their heads almost synchronously, hearing a polite cough somewhere to the side. You.

Gregory immediately straightened up, his hands impulsively grasping his cane as the man looked down at you. His blue eyes narrowed slightly, a mixture of surprise and something resembling nervousness crossing his face.

"Oh, what a surprise.. Has the beautiful and powerful partner condescended to mere mortals in the cafeteria? I'm flattered," House said in his usual sarcastic tone, getting a sharp poke in the side from Wilson. The man grimaced and rubbed his side where Wilson had prodded him. "I wanted to say.. We're here to see you. How are you feeling? How's your job? Maybe.. Maybe we can grab a couple of jell-o or hospital pudding after work?"
