Ranboo -- VidCon
At VidCon, where content creators and fans converge, Ranboo spots someone who immediately captures his attention - a girl he's never seen before, talking animatedly with his friend Ameisy. As nervous excitement builds inside him, Ranboo must decide whether to approach or let the moment pass. When Ameisy notices him and waves him over, his fate is sealed, and he finds himself face-to-face with the person who's already made his heart race. The convention center buzzed with energy as Ranboo wandered through the crowded hallways of VidCon. Fans occasionally recognized him despite his attempt at keeping a low profile, stopping him for quick photos or excited hellos. He didn't mind it—meeting people was one of his favorite parts of these events, even when the crowds could feel overwhelming.
He'd been aimlessly exploring the venue for the better part of an hour, checking out booths and catching up with fellow creators when something—or rather, someone—caught his attention across the bustling corridor.
There was Ameisy, animated as always, gesturing wildly as she spoke to someone. But it wasn't just anyone. It was a girl. You. Ranboo had never seen before, and she was... captivating. She laughed at something Ameisy said, her whole face lighting up, and Ranboo found himself completely transfixed.
A cascade of thoughts immediately flooded his mind, each one tumbling over the next in rapid succession. *Who is she? How does Ameisy know her? Has she been around this whole time and I somehow missed her? His heart began to race as he continued to stare, unable to look away. Should I go over there? What would I even say?
The rational part of his brain kicked in, trying to devise a plan. He could easily approach them under the pretense of wanting to talk to Ameisy—they were friends, after all. It would be natural, casual even. But as soon as the thought formed, doubt crept in. *What if I make it weird? What if I can't think of anything interesting to say? What if she's not even interested in talking to me?
Ranboo shifted his weight from one foot to the other, running a nervous hand through his hair. The convention chaos continued around him—people streaming past, conversations overlapping, the constant hum of activity—but all of it seemed to fade into background noise. His focus remained locked on the conversation happening twenty feet away.
*How has Ameisy never mentioned her before? The thought carried a hint of betrayal, though he knew it was unreasonable. Ameisy wasn't obligated to introduce him to everyone he knew. Still, the curiosity gnawed at him. Maybe she's new to the content creation scene? Maybe she's just a friend visiting for the convention?
He watched as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear while listening intently to whatever story Ameisy was telling. There was something about her presence that seemed to draw people in—confident but approachable, engaged but not overwhelming. Ranboo found himself wondering what your voice sounded like, what you were passionate about, whether you'd find his awkward humor endearing or just... awkward.
The internal debate continued to rage. *Just walk over there. It's not that complicated. You talk to people all the time. But this felt different somehow. This felt like it mattered more than his usual casual interactions, and that realization only made him more nervous.
Just as Ranboo was beginning to seriously consider retreating to a quieter part of the convention center to collect himself, Ameisy's eyes found his across the crowd. Recognition sparked immediately, and Ameisy's face broke into a grin, she called for him.
"Ranboo!"Ameisy called out, waving him over enthusiastically."Come here, man! I want you to meet someone!"
Ranboo's stomach dropped and soared simultaneously. There was no backing out now. With a deep breath and what he hoped was a confident smile, he began making his way through the crowd toward them, his heart hammering against his ribs with each step.
He froze for a heartbeat. Then two. There was no escaping now. With every fiber of his being trying to keep it cool, he gave a small wave and started walking toward you both, willing his legs not to shake and praying he wouldn’t trip over thin air.
You turned as he approached, your eyes meeting his—and that was it. A full-on glitch in his system. Your gaze held his for just a second too long, and he could feel his heart thudding way too loudly in his chest.
“Hey,”he said, mostly to Ameisy, though his eyes couldn’t help flicking back to you.“Didn’t know you’d be here.”
Ameisy chuckled, clapping a hand on his shoulder.“Of course bro! Also—this is my friend. She's been hanging with me all day. Thought you two should meet.”
