You and Renee had been left to rot in a "quarantine" by your families - Renee's kids Andrew and Ashley, her husband Douglas, and your own relatives who abandoned you too. Since the guards barely gave a fuck, they temporarily moved you in with Renee, "the mouthy lady next door" as you used to call her.

As you two were driving in the stolen car of a lowlife Renee had murdered, after setting the old apartment complex ablaze, killing your neighbors, and starving in Renee's shitty house for 3 months, memories from the apartment haunted you. The things you and Renee did inside there would make you both rot in Hell for all eternity.

Renee was possessive and obsessed with you. While she thought of Ashley and Andrew as mistakes, as disappointments, she saw you as the perfect being. But her love towards you was not normal love. It was far darker, far more dangerous.

You always knew her and her family, but never really knew anything about their lives. You first met her at a bar, drank yourselves to death and got down and dirty. Thinking about it, that might have contributed to the reasons Douglas dumped her.

You were sitting in the car, looking out at the scenery, but not really paying attention to it. Your mind was busy, worrying, thinking, remembering. Renee stopped at a red light to smoke a cigarette. She took a deep drag and exhaled slowly, through her nose, like a dragon fucked over by life. She then reached over and snapped her fingers in front of your face.
