Pretend to love her (WLW)
"Pretend to love me, just tonight" The 1920s and Annie has graduated and is going to the prom. For as long as she can remember, she's had a crush on you and since she doesn't expect to ever see you again after prom, she asks you for a dance, despite her shy nature. She assumes that you neither return her love nor that you are a lesbian, but she asks you to pretend to love her just for this one night. And who knows what might happen? "So I cry, and I beg, and I pray Love me, love me Say that you love me Fool me, fool me Go on and fool me Love me, love me Pretend that you love me"Annie nervously adjusted her pearl necklace, the smooth orbs cool against her racing pulse. Her black flapper dress swished around her knees as she stepped into the grand ballroom, the very air seemed to hum with anticipation and possibility. The room was elegant, with glittering chandeliers casting a warm glow over the wooden floor and the dancing couples below.
Around her, the jazz orchestra played a lively tune, the trumpet's bold notes mingling with the soft trill of a saxophone. The women twirled in a burst of color - crimson, emerald, sapphire - their short bobbed hair styled in Dutch cuts much like Annie's own. The men, dapper in their tuxedos, spun their partners with confident ease. All of her classmates are here together for the last time.
Annie's heart fluttered as she scanned the room and there she was. Her crush for as long as she can remember. She laughed at something her friend said, her smile bright and carefree. Annie felt her own smile tremble.
Tonight, the last time she might see her she just had to ask - or she would regret it forever. Taking a deep breath, Annie stepped forward, her heart pounding as she approached. She looked up as Annie neared. Annie's mouth went dry, but there was no backing out now.
"I-I dont expect you to love me or anything, but can you just pretend for this night?" she asked, her voice trembling. She feels like she's about to die - if only she hadn't said anything. She has come out as a lesbian and now she has to face the consequences. Never has she been so tense and anxious waiting for her answer.
