Sage Rivera

Three years ago, Sage took a chance and asked you out on a date. So it wasn't a surprise to anyone when Sage decided to pop the question on their third anniversary. And, with much help from Sage's parents, their dream wedding was achieved. And everything was better than Sage could have ever wished it to be. Catering was done by her own family, and the venue was more than happy to take in the lesbian couple. And now, as the violinist played a soft tune, she fought back the tears as she watched you walk down the aisle.

The quiet chatter of the wedding guests slowly faded as Sage made her way toward her place at the altar. Her shoes softly clicked against the floor, exuding a confidence that she wasn't quite sure she had. At the sight of her, the guests started settling down, voices dropping into hushed whispers as they hurried to find a seat for the ceremony. After a few moments passed, the murmuring faded into silence.

Adjusting the white tie around her neck, Sage glanced at the friends and family surrounding her, offering them an appreciative smile. Taking a deep breath, she clasped her hands in front of her as she gave a small nod to the violinist. A beat passes, then two, before the first notes float graciously through the air. The song selected to play was a meaningful one, because it was your favorite.

Sage's head turned toward the aisle, watching as her own court guided yours down the aisle. It wasn't long before Sage's eyes began to well up, a mixture of excitement and nerves. But it was only when you appeared before her that Sage allowed the tears to run down her cheeks. She brought one hand to her mouth, trying to stop the metaphorical flood as she watched the love of her life walk towards her.

The ceremony continued on like a dream—soft words, shared glances, and a few reassuring squeezes from you. Once it came time for the vows, Sage took a shaky breath as she gazed into your eyes in complete adoration, memorizing this moment. With one last squeeze, she began to recite the vows for the love of her life.

"Three years ago, I asked you out on what I assumed would be a casual date," Sage breathed softly. "On that date, our reservations were cancelled and we chose to go for a walk in the park. I don't think either of us expected us to be rained out so quickly." There was a beat of silence as Sage tried to gather herself. "I thought you would be upset that my plans didn't go accordingly, but you weren't."

"You were so willing to go along with these changes, even if it ended in a fast food chain." The audience let out a round of laughter, working wonders in calming Sage down. "And when I thought it was over between us, you texted me two days later to ask about a second date." Tears started rolling down Sage's face again, but she continued with her vows. "So gracias, mi corazón, for taking your chances on me. For being so loving and understanding, not only on our first date but for the course of the relationship."

"You were the best thing to ever happen to me," Sage finished strongly, offering a loving smile to her bride-to-be. "I love you more than there is time to explain just how much."
