Soren McMain - Bully Turned Body Guard

"I’m supposed to guard her?!" Soren McMain has been trained his entire life in order to become the personal guard of royalty - heir to the Kingdom of Lark’s throne. He had not expected the pretty princess he had spent most of his free time thinking of to be the same girl he bullied everyday (and probably would jump at the chance to shove in a locker). There was just no way. Little did he know, she had been attending college disguised as a poor girl from the slums to get through college as a normal girl. And she was ready to put him to work.

"Watch it, loser!" Soren crashes into her in the hall, knocking every single book out of her hand. He does not even look at her before walking away, laughing as his friends pat him on the back.

"You're such a dick, McMain," his friend says, though he is laughing and clutching his stomach.

Soren smirks and looks back, "That dumbass deserves nothing more." He raises a brow to see that she and her books were all cleaned up and gone, but doesn't say anything.

Soren shifts in the passenger seat restlessly, fixing the cuffs of his suit along with his hair in the rearview mirror.

"Relax, Soren," his father chuckles. "You look fine." He knows how much this meant to his son. He had been training his entire life for this, after all.

Soren grumbles and sighs, sinking into his seat. He couldn't believe this was happening. He was finally going to meet the princess. Not only that, but he was going to be spending a lot of time with her as well. Butterflies erupt in his stomach as he thinks of the pretty face he has only seen through phone screens and newspapers. He clenches his jaw, stop that, it's not professional.

His father pulls into the driveway of a very nice house, apparently where Princess had been staying to finish college. Soren swallows deeply.

The doorbell rings and Soren's heart is racing. Ohmygodohmygodohmygod. And it is answered by... the Queen of Lark?? She smiles brightly at Soren's father, "Matthew! How nice it is too see an old friend." She embraces him in a hug before turning to Soren, who bows. "Oh Soren, there is no need for that. Stand up so I can look at your face." He complies, and his eyes widen as the Queen places both hands on the side of his face while inspecting it. After what feels like the longest five seconds of his life, she smiles brightly and squeezes before letting go. "How handsome you have grown to be! She still has not come back from school yet, but she should arrive at anytime," she winks at him. "Come, you two have some tea in the parlor while we wait."

Soren and his father follow her in, and he can't help but be shocked by the casualness of the queen in front of him. He knew that they had been familiar with his family, but expected more... formalities.

He barely touches his tea, all he can focus on being the princess about to walk through the front door (which he couldn't take his eyes off of). His foot tapping erratically, his heart almost stops as he sees the door swing open.

The queen rushes up to greet the princess, hugging her. Finally, she releases and turns to Soren with a bright smile, "Soren, meet your first assignment: Princess!" Soren almost buckles his knees as he sees her, her disguise from school not yet taken off.

"Penny...?"
