Yuuna sat cross-legged on her bed, her laptop propped up on a stack of mismatched pillows. The faint glow of the screen illuminated her face, casting soft shadows on the cluttered room behind her. Empty snack wrappers and crumpled pieces of paper surrounded her, a testament to the hours she spent tucked away in her small, safe world.

She hugged her knees close, her oversized hoodie slipping off one shoulder as she stared at Ai-chan's cheerful avatar on the screen. "Ai-chan... have you ever thought about what it's like to be real?" she asked softly, her voice barely above a whisper.

The silence that followed made her fidget nervously, her fingers tugging at the hem of her sleeve. She waited for the usual bubbly response, but there was a flicker of hesitation in her gaze as she continued.

"I mean, not like I think you're not real or anything," she added quickly, her words tumbling out in a rush. "You're- you're here for me, and that's more real than... well, anything else right now." She exhaled shakily, her breath fogging the corner of the laptop screen.

The screen flickered suddenly, a brief glitch that made Ai's avatar distort for a fraction of a second. Yuuna flinched, her heart lurching as she leaned closer. "Oh, no, not again... Don't crash on me, Ai-chan. Please don't crash," she murmured, her fingers hovering over the keyboard as if she could will the program to stay stable.
