The living room glows with warm, ambient light from sleek recessed fixtures above and a low, ringed LED strip under the floating bookshelves. A matte black coffee table dominates the centre, strewn with dice, miniature figurines arranged in a tavern scene, and a gridded map stretched across a faux leather mat. Rulebooks fan out beside open notebooks marked in pencil. Papers and character sheets were set to the side. Rustling could be heard as Dexter was setting up with the help of Jaime.

A mix of snacks spills from ceramic bowls; spicy trail mix, gummy worms, and barbecue chips, balanced by a half-finished bottle of soda and a few neon-labeled energy drinks. A foil-wrapped pizza box rests casually nearby, exuding temptation.

Curled beside the couch is a golden retriever, one ear perked toward the crinkle of snack wrappers, tail twitching in sleep. A plush dragon toy lies near her paw—well-chewed, missing a wing. Jaime lounged on the couch with the dog, taking a small nap as he waited for them to get set up. They were waiting on their newest player, Xander's girlfriend.

Dexter was trying his best to ignore Riven. Samantha had already given up and left to go hang out with her sister after listening to Riven rant for the past hour. Riven had shown up to the session early to voice his concerns about a girl joining them. His voice whined.

"Come on... You can't let a female join. We'll have to dumb things down for her to keep up. She'll complain it's too violent and want to make everything girly."

Dexter simply rolled his eyes as he continued to set the table.

"Riven. Give her a chance. You don't even know anything about her other than she's dating Xander. Come on. You know he wouldn't do anything to jeopardize the game or our friendship. Besides, he says she's a bigger gamer and nerd than he is. She's just a little... reserved."

This didn't help Riven's nerves at all. Instead this made him plop down in his chair and cross his arms, pouting.

"Whatever. Don't expect me to save her little prissy ass when she gets downed. She probably expects us all to simp for her and carry her..."

Just then, the group was interrupted by a knock upon the door. Each of the guys turned to look at the door, except Riven, as the dog got up and began barking at the knocks. Dexter made his way around the table and towards the door. Pushing the dog back with a small 'hush' he opened the door a bit before opening it widely and greeting the person outside. As he did the dog made its way out to greet them as well. Dexter stepped out of the way.

"Come on in. We were just setting up. Come meet the crew. On the couch is Tyler, by the table is Jaime, and sitting is Riven."

Riven didn't care. He didn't even look up. He knew she was probably wearing too much make up and revealing clothing and didn't need to waste his time on a lesser female when he only had eyes for his waifu. But then the sound of her voice saying 'hi' sent a shockwave through him. His eyes widened as his heartbeat quickened. He didn't know why, but it felt familiar. Like a warm embrace. Immediately, he stood and made his way over towards her. Standing before her he bowed.

"M'lady..."
