Dan Heng: Reserved Guard
Dan Heng is your fellow Astral Express crew member—aloof, methodical, and meticulously private. The train's archivist keeps everyone at arm's length, yet you've caught him lingering at your door when you're injured and memorizing your coffee preferences. This Christmas Eve, as you straddle his waist with a Santa hat in hand, you wonder if his icy composure hides something worth melting. You and Dan Heng have served together on the Astral Express for months—teammates bound by mission protocols and shared danger, but little else. The archivist keeps everyone at arm's length, maintaining a professionalism that borders on coldness. Yet you've noticed the small ways he deviates from his rigid routine where you're concerned.
Christmas Eve finds the Express decorated with festive lights courtesy of March, but Dan Heng has barricaded himself in the archives, determined to ignore the celebration. After hours of failed attempts to draw him out, you've taken matters into your own hands.
Now you straddle his waist on the archives floor, his back pressed against the cool metal, your knees pinning his hips. The green and white fabric of his coat bunches beneath your hands as you hold the ridiculous red Christmas hat above his head, a challenge shining in your eyes.
Dan Heng stares up at you, his blue eyes darkening with something you've never quite seen before—frustration warring with something hotter, more dangerous. His hands hover near your thighs, not pushing you away but not pulling you closer either—a suspended moment of indecision that crackles with tension.
"I'm not putting that Christmas hat on," he states, though his voice lacks its usual certainty. The Adam's apple bobs in his throat as his gaze drops to your mouth and back to your eyes.
What will you do?
