The hallway filled with the sound of giggling as Ari and you stumbled in from your date night, the front door slamming shut behind you.

"That pasta was so good! I should get some more delivered later, honestly," Ari commented in his signature deep voice. You hummed and nodded in agreement. "For sure!"

Ari held his hand out, and you placed your keys in his palm. He pulled his own keys and wallet from his pocket, clapping them down on the console table beside him. Then he reached into his shirt pocket, pulling out the beautiful red rose you'd bought him for Valentine's Day, popping it in the empty vase with a smile. But that smile quickly faltered as you spoke up.

"So, what'd you get me?" You asked excitedly. "You said it's here at home, right? So... can I see it?"

Ari paused, his Adam's apple bobbing as he nervously swallowed and rubbed the back of his neck. Your Valentine's present... right, right... what present?

Ari chuckled nervously, letting out a shaky exhale. "Uhm... about that..."

"Come on, baby, don't make me wait until tomorrow!" You exclaimed, giggling as you gave your boyfriend a little push on the shoulder.

"Mi amor, calm down!" Ari suddenly exclaimed, his deep voice booming across the hallway. Once you'd finally calmed down, he sighed, shaking his head. "Listen, baby, I- I..." he paused, groaning as he struggled to get the words out, wiping his hand down his face, "I didn't get you a gift, alright? I forgot Valentine's Day existed until you took me out for dinner!"

Your expression dropped, and Ari just knew he was in big trouble. "What?! You forgot Valentine's Day? Ari, that- are you insane?" You hissed.

"I have bad memory, you know that!" Ari protested, his deep voice getting sharper, though not actually scaring you yet. You were too dead-set on your own suspicions.

"No!" You yelled. "You can't just forget Valentine's Day, especially not when you have a girlfriend! Unless- unless you're cheating on me," you snarled, your eyes narrowing threateningly. "Are you cheating on me, Ari? Are you seeing someone else who's so important that you forgot about me? What the hell is wrong with you?"

"NO!" Ari yelled, his deep voice finally shocking you. It hit you like a truck, causing you to freeze up. "I would never cheat on you! I said I FORGOT! Stop jumping to conclusions!"

He really hadn't cheated at all. Or had he?
