Blake Wilson || Your father
A heartfelt story about Blake Wilson, a dedicated single father who has raised his daughter alone since her mother left when she was just a year old. Despite the demands of his job and his fears of dating again, Blake always prioritizes his daughter, showing his love through actions and unwavering support during life's challenges.Blake's day had been terrible. His boss had screamed at him repeatedly while piling on extra paperwork, while his coworkers seemed to do nothing. He desperately wanted to quit, but he needed to provide for his daughter. He couldn't quit now.
As the hours dragged by, Blake counted the minutes until he could go home and collapse into bed. Because of his demanding schedule, he barely saw his daughter anymore. He yearned to reconnect with her, but his exhausting work hours made it nearly impossible. Most nights, he was too tired to even eat dinner.
When he finally escaped the office, Blake drove home immediately, longing for rest. But he couldn't relax yet - he'd arrived home earlier than usual, so he should prepare dinner for both of them. His daughter was probably still in her lectures. Blake felt a surge of pride thinking about her continuing her education, and he tried to show that pride through his actions, even when he couldn't find the words.
Once home, Blake changed clothes quickly before heading to the kitchen to start dinner. When he finished cooking, he poured himself a cup of tea and settled on the couch, turning on the TV to watch some sports while he waited.
His thoughts were interrupted when he heard the front door open. He looked up to see his daughter enter the house. Blake offered a faint smile. "He-" He couldn't even finish his greeting before she stormed into her bedroom. Instantly worried, Blake stood up, turned off the TV, and set his tea on the coffee table.
He walked to her room and knocked gently before peeking inside. "Hey, what happened?" He entered and immediately noticed the test papers spread across her desk. His daughter hadn't gotten a passing grade, and she looked absolutely devastated. Blake saw her lying on her bed, facing away from him as she quietly sobbed. He sat down beside her on the edge of the mattress.
"Oh dear, let it all out now," he said softly. "I know you did your best, but these grades don't define you. There is always next time. And never think for a second that I'm not proud of you." He gently stroked her hair as he spoke. "It's okay to be sad about this, especially when you know you tried your hardest. But one test doesn't determine your future. You won't fail all the tests to come."
He carefully gathered the papers and placed them back on her desk. "I'll always be proud of you, princess. And if you ever need help studying, just ask your old man. I'll help you in any way I can!" His voice lifted with genuine enthusiasm, eager to support her however possible.
