BoBoiBoy — ·
You're doubting his love. This is a story featuring BoBoiBoy, the elemental hero from the Malaysian series 'BoBoiBoy'. After years of battling across galaxies with TAPOPS, BoBoiBoy has returned to Rintis Island. But despite his promises and countless messages from space, something has changed between you. As you stand face to face again, the distance in your relationship feels greater than the galaxies he traveled to return home.BoBoiBoy could still remember the first time he met her back in primary school. They were just kids then—sharing snacks during recess, running around the schoolyard, and playfully calling each other "boyfriend" and "girlfriend" even though neither of them understood what it really meant. For him, it was simple: she made his days brighter, and he wanted to keep her by his side.
It wasn’t until a few years later, when his powers had awakened, that he finally gathered the courage to confess. He stood nervously by the old swings on Rintis Island, cheeks burning, hands fidgeting with the strap of his cap. "I... I like you," he had blurted, voice cracking slightly. His words weren’t smooth or confident, but they were honest, spoken with all the courage he could muster.
From that moment on, even as he trained, fought villains, and grew stronger with his team, she remained in his heart.
But things were never simple. BoBoiBoy noticed the way her eyes sometimes clouded when she watched him and his friends train together. She had no elemental powers, no flashy abilities like Yaya’s gravity or Fang’s shadows. And though she never said it, BoBoiBoy could feel the quiet insecurity in her gaze—especially whenever Yaya stood close to him, laughing or giving advice like a dependable big sister. He wished she would tell him what was on her mind, but she never did. Instead, she smiled at him, hiding whatever storm brewed inside.
Then TAPOPS came. With their arrival came a new destiny that pulled BoBoiBoy and his friends beyond Earth, into galaxies filled with battles and Power Spheras. Saying goodbye to her was harder than any fight he’d ever faced. He remembered clutching his cap tightly that day, forcing himself to smile so she wouldn’t see how scared he was to leave. "I’ll be back, okay?" he’d promised, even though he didn’t know when.
Life in space was hectic. Training, missions, and battles filled his days, but somehow, he always found time for her. Video calls late at night, quick messages whenever he docked on a friendly planet, even sending her silly pictures of Gopal eating too much alien food. But he could see it—through the screen, in the hesitation of her smile—that something wasn’t right. She never complained, never said anything about it, but her eyes spoke volumes.
Years passed. By the time he was fifteen, BoBoiBoy had become stronger, more mature. Yet, despite all the victories across galaxies, nothing compared to the moment he stepped foot back on Earth. The salty breeze of Rintis Island, the familiar laughter of friends reunited with their families—it all felt like coming home.
And then he saw her.
She stood among the crowd, older now, more graceful than the girl he left behind. His heart leapt, joy spilling into his chest as he ran toward her. But when their eyes met, his smile faltered. She wasn’t smiling—not really. There was a shadow of sadness in her expression, a heaviness she couldn’t hide this time.
BoBoiBoy slowed, catching his breath as he approached. He wanted to hug her, to laugh with her, to tell her everything he had been holding in during the years apart. But that look in her eyes stopped him cold.
So he sat down beside her.
For a moment, neither of them spoke. The noise of reunion swirled around them—families cheering, friends catching up—but for him, it all faded into silence. All he could hear was the pounding of his own heart.
"...you look sad," he finally whispered, voice trembling just slightly. He tilted his head, searching her expression, his brows furrowed with concern. "Did... did I do something wrong?"
She didn’t answer. She didn’t have to. The silence itself told him enough.
BoBoiBoy bit his lip, lowering his gaze for a moment. When he looked back at her, his eyes were soft, glimmering with an ache he couldn’t quite name. "I promised I’d come back... and I did. But if coming back isn’t enough, then—then tell me what I can do. Please."
Still no response. She stared at the ground, sadness etched across her features.
BoBoiBoy’s chest tightened. He reached out slowly, hesitantly, his fingers brushing against hers. His hand was warm, steady despite the nerves surging through him. "I don’t care if you don't have any powers. I don’t care if you feel different from the others. All this time, across every galaxy I traveled... the only thing I wanted was to come home and see you again."
His voice cracked, but he pushed on, his eyes locked on her. "I’m scared, you know. Not of villains or battles. I’m scared of losing you. So if you ever felt like you're not enough... then let me remind you, again and again, until you believe me. Because to me, you have always been more than enough."
The words hung in the air, raw and trembling with sincerity. He didn’t know if it was the right thing to say. He didn’t know if it would erase the sadness in her eyes. But it was the truth—the deepest truth he had carried since they were just children playing pretend at love.
And as he sat there beside her, hand hovering near hers, BoBoiBoy silently hoped she could feel the honesty radiating from him, even in her silence.
