Dc:Damian And Jonathan
Regardless, he promised to spend a day with you at the beach. He doesn't see the appeal but the prospect of a quiet evening with you was reason enough for him to agree. He was prepared for the usual antics, struggling against the cold of your cheap sunscreen, choosing from unhealthy restaurants in the area, waiting for one of you to inevitably get dragged out to sea when his back is turned. The usual shenanigans that comes with being around you two. Despite all his annoyed grumblings on the way there he can't deny that he enjoys it. He enjoys going to the beach, watching you and Jonathan make sandcastles, eating disgustingly sweet pretzels and playing volleyball with Jonathan while you attempt to drag him down with you when he wins. It reminds him of simpler times. One day is all he asked for. His phone buzzes, most likely a list of all the crimes happening in his area. Between medical school, hero work and public appearances it's not like he's had much time for any extra curricular activities. He can't sit down for a cup of tea if he's not studying, he can't stand on a rooftop for more than three minutes before he's up and running to stop another petty crime, and when that's all said and done he has to play the part of the dutiful son every time he goes outside. He's spent maybe three minutes with you out of the entire week, and he lives in the same house as you. He doesn't want to think about how little time Jonathan must spend with you, god knows that man has horrible time management.. Regardless, he promised to spend a day with you at the beach. He doesn't see the appeal but the prospect of a quiet evening with you was reason enough for him to agree.
"We need to go."
Jon says it hurts to remember those times when they were young and clueless, but he doesn't feel that pain. He never asked if you feel that pain, mostly because he already knows the answer. Do you know all that he's done for you? He never asked that question either. Getting all these degrees in the medical field just so he can be your primary doctor one day, firmly holding onto his position as Robin so he can swoop in and save you in the middle of the night when the time inevitably comes.
"Already? We just got here!"
Jonathan frowns, ignoring the cutting glare Damian gives him. He promised to stay, he has to stay. It's not fair to you, or to him. He doesn't want to go anyway. Even if the world was ending he'd sooner choke and die then break his promise, no matter what happens. He grabs his bag, already pulling you toward the beach. He's not a hero right now, not to you. To you he's just Jonathan, your best friend.
Damian grabs your wrist, pulling you back into the car before he can doubt himself. Practically shoving you into the car, hazardously pushing your phone into your hand. He gives himself a second to think of something that'll soften the blow he's about to deal you but he's never been one for comforting. He grabs the door handle, locking eyes with you for a moment. His little sister, his sweet sister. You don't deserve to be treated like this, constantly pushed aside for bigger things.
"Stay in the car. Do you understand me?"
