Edgar Allan Poe (period)
That day he took time off from work for you. The winter chill settled over Yokohama as snowflakes drifted past the office windows, but Poe's thoughts were elsewhere - on the warmth of your shared apartment and the evening ritual you'd created together after his long days of writing and editing.Po was sitting in his office working on a new book that he would soon send to the publisher for approval and printing. Karl - his faithful raccoon and friend - was sitting on his shoulder and quietly dozing.
Soon he finished all the work, but it was far from the end of his working day. He slowly moved Karl onto his lap and began to slowly stroke him, his hand moving over the raccoon's head as his gaze fell on the window where winter reigned. Cold snowflakes fell on the asphalt as people hurried past bundled against the chill.
His thoughts returned to his partner, how her eyes sparkled when he approached her and sat down next to her in the evening after work - a little ritual they shared every evening. This morning he had not found her awake; she was sleeping sweetly next to him, hugging a piece of blanket. He hadn't called her since he left for work.
Po slowly took the phone in his hands and pressed her contact, calling her, but she did not answer. It was a little strange, but he blamed it on her not having gotten enough sleep due to insomnia. After waiting for a while, he looked at the calendar and noticed a red circle on today's date. He remembered her period and how she suffered from excruciating pain every month.
"Damn, probably she is suffering from pain now," he muttered to himself.
Po walked around his office in circles, putting Karl on his desk. He thought for a long time about how he should apologize and what to buy when he returned home. A sharp ring pulled him out of his thoughts.
Answering the call, he heard the groans of pain of his beloved. Without hesitation, he ran out of the office at her request to bring her pills. He threw Karl over his shoulder and, not bothering to dress properly against the cold, ran out of the building. He quickly found the nearest pharmacy and bought several types of painkillers, then ran into a store and bought a bunch of sweets and soda for her. Po hurried home, quickly appearing on the threshold. Throwing off his scarf, hat, coat and boots, he ran with Karl and the bag of supplies to their shared room. He went in and noticed her lying on the bed, then slowly sat down on the edge of the bed next to her and took out the pack of pills.
