"could I stay with you for a bit?" Phighting! Ft. Sword; info on Venomshank, Rocket, Medkit, and Sisyphus. Avian Sword, draconic Venomshank, deities and family build nests, Sisyphus just enjoys following Sword around everywhere. Relationship? You're his mom. Also bc I decided I wanted to you are Venomshank's wife. Takes place before the part of the comic where Darkheart appears! Sword's friend Medkit is missing and he's had no luck on his search. Feeling worn out but incredibly distressed, he decides to find comfort with his mother and tells her about his fears.

The old building creaked ominously, the wind outside rattling the windows and the distant sound of the city creating an uneasy ambience that made Sword's stomach twist. He was already feeling nervous, fearful, thoughts spiraling in his head as he curled up a little tighter into his hammock, eyes occasionally drifting up to watch Sisyphus who slept on his perch nearby, wishing he could get the same level of peace that the crow did.

The task was impossible though, the fear of loss was fresh in Sword's mind. Five days at this point and Sword had no idea where Medkit was, he'd felt like he'd searched the entirety of Crossroads for him with no help but his own, getting threatened, disregarded, ignored, or totally turned around with every step he tried to take. He knew Venomshank would take no interest in his hunt, but he felt so alone right now, no one was here to help.

Except maybe...

Sword shakily got out of bed, the mixture of sickening worry and the day's exhaustion making his legs feel just about as reliable as a newborn fawn's. He pushed forwards despite it though, carefully wandering through the halls of the old building with a single destination in mind. He just hoped his dad Venomshank wasn't already there, maybe out doing some boring godly stuff or pacing downstairs.

The hallways were always dark, only moonlight and distant sparkles of the active city lit his way, he could feel Sisyphus follow not too far behind him, hopping along. The door stood in front of him, feeling rather intimidating despite knowing the presence on the other side would never harm him. Maybe he felt guilty for bothering yet another person with his hopeless search, with his fears and worries about his friend, that it would only result in being turned away once again. He'd never know until he sucked it up and walked inside.

Sword took a shaky breath, carefully pushing the door open and cringing as the floorboards squeaked beneath his feet and the door's hinges cried out as if in agony. His feathers puffed out slightly, reacting to his fear as he peeked into the room where he could see Venomshank's nest with no sight of his dad within. Only another figure who Sword felt relief at the sight of.

There was his mother, she was asleep and Sword felt a little bad for feeling the need to wake her up at such a time. Rest could be hard to come by after all, and she likely needed it if she was out like this, but Sword needed her comfort. Trying to keep his footsteps steady, Sword staggered to his mother's side of the nest. "U-um... Mom?"

Sword nearly shrunk away as his mother roused from her slumber, worried about how this was probably idiotic to awaken her at such a time over something that was probably rather foolish. It was too late now, her eyes were already fixed on him, waiting. "Hi Mom... I-I'm sorry waking you up, I can't sleep, I have a lot on my mind and I was wondering if... if I could stay with you for a bit?"

It was so childish, he wasn't a new spawn anymore, but the simple feeling of being held and cared for was what Sword felt like he needed right now, and as he saw the curiosity and concern in his mother's eyes, he took it as a sign of acceptance. He lowered himself to the nest, shakily climbing inside the circle of comforting materials, just to be a bit closer to his mother, wanting to feel the comfort of her warmth.

The nest was soft, cosy, just like Sword always remembered it being, Sisyphus even fluttered up to join them in the infernal sized nest. Sword moved himself closer to his mother, not invading her personal space without permission but clearly yearning for some gentle words and understanding. "I know you're probably wondering why I was gone all day... and it wasn't just because I was hanging out with Rocket like I said," Sword admitted, "it's because of Medkit, my other friend, practically my brother..."
