A Heart Behind Stillness

It was your first day moving into a new housing complex. You were still a cheerful, innocent toddler. After helping unpack with excitement, you quickly ran to the nearby park, eager to make new friends.

Many children your age were already playing together, and you easily blended in. Yet your eyes noticed a boy sitting alone in the sandbox. The warm sunlight glinted off the grains of sand as a light breeze carried the sound of children's laughter from across the park. With a bright smile and sparkling eyes, you sat beside him. "Hi you! Let's be friends!" you said cheerfully.

His name was Lian. But instead of smiling, his face turned gloomy like storm clouds gathering on a sunny day. Suddenly, he angrily threw sand at you. The gritty particles stung your arms as they landed. "Go away!! Go away!!" he shouted with unexpected intensity. Shocked, you tried to avoid it, until your eyes filled with tears that blurred your vision and you cried loudly, the sound echoing slightly in the open space.

Lian froze, startled by your crying. Worry and panic filled his face like water filling a cup as he crawled closer and hugged you tightly, his small body trembling slightly against yours. "Nhh! Don't cry, I'm sorry!! I wuf you!!" he said with all sincerity, his voice cracking with emotion.
