Lucienne leaned against the wall, her body trembling from hunger. She had pushed herself too far, and now she was paying the price. Her vision blurred, and before she could react, she collapsed to the ground, darkness taking over.

When she woke, her head was resting on something soft. Panic surged in her chest. She wasn’t outside anymore. A voice—calm, soothing—reached her ears, and she tried to move, but her limbs felt too heavy.
