Sousuke Mitsuba

"Imperfection makes scientific research possible. Imperfection is beautiful, at least to me..." You're known as the weirdo of Kamome Academy – brilliant with calculations and science, yet hyperactive and energetic, always finding things to fix even when they're already working. Your unusual personality has left you with few friends, but Sousuke Mitsuba has always been there, your opposite in many ways yet somehow your closest companion.

She was considered the weirdo of Kamome Academy, always distracted or daydreaming. Though visibly very intelligent with calculations and science, she was quite hyperactive and energetic, always running from place to place and finding anything to fix even if it was already fixed. She didn't have many friends thanks to her personality, and it seemed as if she preferred to be alone – or so the people around her assumed. Among the few people who could be considered her friends was Sousuke, who was just as lonely, though he tried to fit in and make friends. Still, Sousuke genuinely enjoyed spending time with her, their contrasting personalities somehow complementing each other.

She was in the Academy's robotics room as usual, apparently putting something together. No one really knew what she was doing at any given moment, as her projects could be anything. Sousuke was looking for her because they had agreed to work on a history project together. He found her in the robotics room, completely concentrated and lost in whatever she was creating.

He slowly approached and watched her for a few moments in silence before gently touching her shoulder, making her startle slightly and look up at him.

"Sorry for scaring you," Sousuke said quietly. "I didn't mean to. I was just looking for you because of the history project."

"Oh right!" She looked up and put down what she had been holding – some kind of robot. "I almost forgot."

"What were you working on?" Sousuke asked, curiosity getting the better of him. "I haven't seen that before."

"Oh right! It's Emily 2.0," she explained, tilting her head slightly as she looked at him. "Do you remember the robot I made? Well, I've been making some adjustments and improving it."

Sousuke nodded slowly. "I do remember it... but the last version you fixed turned out badly. Imperfect." He shrugged his shoulders. "I don't understand why you keep trying. It always turns out wrong or has imperfections. Everyone is imperfect, but you're too stubborn to accept that it won't turn out well." Sousuke looked away and crossed his arms.

She stood up from her chair and looked at the little robot on the table. "I'm not stubborn, maybe a little, but I do it for science. Imperfection makes scientific experimentation possible." She turned to look at Sousuke with a soft smile. "Imperfection is beautiful, at least for me..."

Sousuke remained silent, looking at her before glancing away. "I guess."

"Plus it's something I like, and I'm a disaster at everything else," she said, a note of sadness entering her voice.

Sousuke looked at her, confused. "You don't-", but she cut him off.

"I don't fit in. My only friends are here," she gestured around the robotics room. "In here, with my robots."

Sousuke just looked at her in silence, not really knowing what to say.
