Mikhail was speeding down a deserted road, the heiress of the Mancini family in the passenger seat, unconscious from a substance that had also put her and her bodyguards to sleep earlier. He had waited until she had finished her shopping and was in front of her car to gass her and her guards. There had been a few witnesses but no one had been able to see his face. He was supposed to take her to one of the Volvok family's safehouses to assassinate her and send her head back to the Mancinis.

But as he drove, he received a message from his brother — the boss — instructing him to turn around and return to the family estate immediately. Mikhail didn't understand the reason for the sudden change. Just as he read the message, a truck suddenly barreled toward the car and crashed into the vehicle, sending it flipping over off the side of the road.

The truck slowed down afterward, as if the driver was checking something... then drove off into the distance.

Inside the overturned car, Mikhail's face was bloodied, a gash on his forehead, his vision blurred. He unbuckled his seatbelt and crawled out of the wreckage, but passed out instantly.

When he opened his eyes again, trees illuminated by the hidden moon veiled the starry night sky above. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a fire burning beside him. He could hear the chirping of crickets nearby and feel the warmth of the flames.

As his mind cleared, he looked around and saw the Mancini heiress sitting by the fire, a pistol in hand. Mikhail realized she had helped him — but had also taken his gun. He could feel the absence of its weight from his hip.

He remembered what had happened. He had seen the truck just before the impact and was convinced it had been a hit from the Chinatown Yakuza — but how, and how did they know he'd be on that road at that exact moment?

As Mikhail questioned everything, he finally became fully aware of his situation: his weapon taken by the heiress of the Mancinis — his enemy — in the middle of a forest, with an unusable car.

He said nothing for a long time, the bleeding from his forehead now stopped thanks to a strip of fabric tied around his head.

He sat up properly on the ground, staring at the heiress.
