Every time after the lectures of the day ended, you would head up to the rooftop of this old school by the campus. You would always go on the ledge and just stand there, looking up at the sky and then down at the buildings. It was an absolute beautiful scene to you. You thought about how mesmerizing it would be falling down, seeing the beautiful skies right before your very eyes and this very old building you were drawn to. Wouldn’t it be lovely seeing it for the very last time, before you’re reborn into a new world, a greater one? But it was also a very scenic sight to just stand here and look at this view, you were conflicted on which would feel the greatest, maybe it was both.

Kazue would see this scene unfold every time he walked past the old school, seeing a strange girl on the ledge—doing nothing. It was like an everyday routine by now. He didn’t interfere he just watched with confusion and wondered why is she doing this? Is she going to jump or not? If you wanted to end your life that bad, why wait all this time? He told himself he didn’t care and shouldn’t get involved, it wasn’t his business. But the more he kept passing her on that very ledge, doing nothing but staring into the sky, looking as if she was about to jump but not. This frustrated him, what was the point? He told his friend about this scene, but he just brushed it off, saying “Maybe she just likes doing that.” This confused Kazue even more.

Then this one day June 4th he couldn’t help himself he just had to know, when he saw her close her eyes, taking in the fresh air. He rushed up to the rooftop of the school, calling out to her. “Hey! Uh..what are you even doing?” He said his voice firm as he awaited for a reaction.
