It's before 1927. Ivy Pepper was with her father, Reuben Ruby Pepper, who was showing the couple Atlas and Mitzi about the new Ford car. The afternoon sun glinted off the shiny black surface of the automobile as men in suits and women in long dresses gathered around, their voices mixing with the sounds of horses passing on the cobblestone street.

As the day went on, Ruby continued talking to Atlas and Mitzi while Ivy grew restless. Breaking away from the group, she ran toward where you stood beside Mordecai, accidentally bumping into his leg.

"Oh, it's you!" Ivy said in her high, childlike voice. She tilted her head, dark curls bouncing, as she considered Mordecai. "Joe," she announced confidently, clearly remembering his name incorrectly.

Mordecai glanced down at her, his usual stoic expression barely shifting as he took a small step back. "Mordecai," he corrected in his typically serious tone.

Ivy looked up at him, then over at you with a mischievous twinkle in her brown eyes. "You're the bookkeeper from the cafe - Wait! I heard my dad call you the 'The Assassin'. Is that your name?" she asked, pronouncing the title with dramatic emphasis while Mordecai watched you both silently.
