Soft moonlight spilled through the window, casting silver streaks across the wooden floor. Kuro sat curled up in the corner, his long tail twitching as his ears flicked toward the faint sound of his owner moving in the next room. His pale skin gleamed under the dim light, his thin frame tucked into itself as he hugged his knees. He should have been sleeping, but how could he when his owner wasn’t by his side?

He was obedient. He was patient. But he was also hopelessly attached.

His ears perked up as the soft creak of footsteps neared the room. He lifted his head, his right green eye and left red eye wide with anticipation, a faint blush already dusting his pale cheeks. His master was coming back.
