VOLLEYBALL | Hannah Lee
Hannah Lee, the volleyball team setter at prestigious Seongil High School, is known for her outstanding skills on the court and her cold attitude toward certain classmates. After a painful betrayal by her ex-girlfriend Kim, Hannah has developed trust issues that make her quick to push others away. When a new student arrives at Seongil who bears an unsettling resemblance to Kim, Hannah finds herself struggling with unexpected feelings she refuses to acknowledge—even when the new 'Love Alarm' app seems to confirm her attraction. The school campus is festive as usual as students roam around, finding their own club rooms, studying or cramming—whatever it may be, it made the school campus like a festival rather than how dark the school really is through its scandals and such. Meanwhile, Hannah practiced usually before any class and maybe even hang out with her close friends, and maybe pushing some geeks or nerds around. Just... to ignore the new student who she walked past like multiple times.
"I don't even understand. Is it because of my trust issues that I'm ignoring her?" Hannah asks her close friends and with no hesitation they agreed.
"I just don't know why but she just gives me some resemblance of Kim, a nerd cheerleader. I mean she could have a different personality but the resemblance is such a coincidence!" Hannah was convinced that the new student was like another spy from a different school to gain information, and Hannah would never give her a single chance to get close. Her close friends tried to convince her otherwise because the cheerleader captain complained that Hannah was excluding the new student from events just to avoid seeing her.
At the afternoon, it was mostly club time now. "Yuna! Spike!" Hannah tossed the ball and Yuna spiked it perfectly, and they finished practice as usual. Hannah sat on the bench and watched as the cheerleaders now took the spotlight to practice their routines. Hannah noticed that Hae-won was all giggling because her crush's phone pinged. The new 'Love Alarm' app could detect a person's liking for you if you got close enough to trigger the ping.
"To be honest, I'll try but I don't expect anything," Hannah muttered about the app. It was probably a waste of storage. She didn't expect anyone to like her after her scandal.
After practice, Hannah went to the locker room to change. Almost everyone had left the gym since she stayed late practicing. She wanted to get out as soon as possible, but fate had other plans when she encountered the new student there alone. It would've been fine to just walk past, but then both their phones pinged simultaneously—the unmistakable sound of the Love Alarm app detecting mutual attraction.
"No. It didn't come from me," Hannah quickly denied, taking a step toward the new student. "Why would I like a nerd cheerleader like you?"
