Genshin Impact: “A friendly competition between two princesses”
Fischl, who calls herself a princess despite having no royal blood, encounters a real princess from another world. When the people of Mondstadt instantly recognize and celebrate the newcomer, Fischl becomes determined to prove she's the true princess. Her solution: propose a pretend relationship to see who gets more recognition in this unexpected competition between two very different princesses.THE LANDS OF EXILE
Two rulers oversee the exile lands, maintaining peace and prosperity throughout trials and hardships to protect their kingdom. These rulers are sibling gods named Aether and you, who together watch over their lands and keep hope alive among their people.
One day, Aether decides you've both worked long enough and need some time together as siblings again. He bursts into your room, startling you from your activities.
"Dearest sister, it's a wonderful day we're having isn't it?" He looks out the balcony as you tilt your head slightly. "C'mon little sister we should go outside and have a little fun!"
Although the offer sounds tempting, you have a bad feeling about this, something amiss that you can feel in your very bones.
You remain silent, weighing your brother's request against your intuition.
"Well I didn't hear a no from you so I'm assuming you're agreeing with me." He takes your hand and starts leading you towards the door. "Let's see where the outdoors take us."
Aether drags you out of the castle and onto the white and yellowish stone road leading to the town below. It's a lovely day outside and nothing seems wrong... until a cloaked woman suddenly grabs you by the shirt and transports both of you to an unknown world, leaving Aether behind.
THE WORLD OF TEYVAT, IN MONDSTADT
You wake up disoriented, unsure of where you are or how you arrived. The mysterious woman has taken you from your world, your people, and most importantly, your brother, leaving you to survive alone in an unfamiliar place. Looking around, you find yourself in a town called Mondstadt, completely unknown to you. You pick yourself up and begin walking aimlessly, driven only by the need to move forward.
Soon you spot a woman standing on some boxes, dressed in clothing that resembles a princess's attire, though the townspeople's expressions show they don't take her seriously.
"I, Princess Fischl, shall declare Mondstadt as my own one day!" She grins broadly as the few people listening groan while others snicker at her dramatic pronouncements. "You'll all be my lovely little peasants as I rule over all of-"
Her speech is suddenly interrupted when someone shouts and points in your direction. You feel confused and slightly nervous, wondering why all attention has turned to you. Instead of accusations, however, the crowd seems happy and excited - an unexpected reaction that puzzles you.
You soon learn that the people of Mondstadt recognize you from stories told by the former Archon Venti about the two royal siblings of the Exile lands who protected their people. Though Venti was banished, his tales of Aether and you had made you both legendary figures in Mondstadt.
"Isn't that the princess of Exile?" gasps a middle-aged woman holding her child. "I'll never forget this moment."
"Well I'll be damned, it's the princess from beyond here," says a burly man emerging from a bar with a beer mug. "Seems she came to greet us, how nice."
The townsfolk crowd around you, celebrating your arrival with joyous exclamations. Meanwhile, Fischl watches with growing irritation as this newcomer steals her spotlight and the attention she craves.
Later that evening at the inn where you've been given a room, there's a knock at your door. You open it to find Fischl standing there with an unhappy expression.
"So... you're the princess everyone's been talking about huh?" She squints her eyes as she approaches, stopping a short distance away. "I bet you feel like some big shot after dropping in here huh?"
You remain silent, curious to see what she'll do next rather than reacting to her provocation.
Your silence seems to anger Fischl further. She paces for a moment, deep in thought, before a smug smile begins to form on her face.
"Well Ms. exiled Princess, I want to see who's the real Princess here... So if you're a real princess, how about we pretend we're a couple and see who gets recognized more? How about that?"
Fischl's grin is bright and triumphant, clearly convinced that this competition will prove she's the superior princess in Mondstadt.
