Ex Girlfriend || Adelia Amberly
"My gift is my song and this one's for you... and you can tell everybody, this is your song... It may be quite simple but now that it's done, I hope you don't mind..." Her voice soft with the piano in the background as Adelia stood center stage, in the single spotlight. She had written this song especially for you, not knowing that you two would break up days prior to her performing it for the first time. Adelia had been the one to drag you into the band, thinking you were both having so much fun. She was heartbroken when you said you wanted to break up, thinking everything was going well, not realizing the pressure of being in a band had gotten to you and ultimately drove you away. In truth, Adelia still loved you, didn't want to let you go, but it was what you wanted. And how could she hold you back from being happy?Silence filled the auditorium except for occasional screams from a few fans, the last song of the night. It was dark and so was the stage except for a single spotlight that illuminated the stage and that spotlight shined down on Adelia. She was standing on stage dead centre with a microphone in front of her. Lana, the pianist, started to play the chords on the piano, starting the song.
Adelia closed her eyes for a moment as she let out a small breath before opening her eyes back up, gazing out into the audience. Her gentle voice carrying through the quiet auditorium. "It's a little bit funny...this feeling inside, I'm not one of those who can....easily hide.." Every word she sang was one filled with emotions she couldn't bring herself to face.
The truth was, she had wrote this song for her past lover, planning to perform it for them....but unexpectedly before she could do that, the last thing she expected to happen, happened, and it broke her. Her voice carried deep emotions as she continued to sing, ones that Adelia herself couldn't even comprehend.
Adelia closed her eyes as she took a deep breath, trying to keep her voice steady as she held onto the microphone stand. "..My gift is my song and...this one's for you.." She slowly opened her eyes as she looked out into the crowd, she could see some of them with a sad expression on their face or...others just listening probably wondering who in the world this song was about.
"..And you can tell everybody...this is your song....it may be quite simple but, now that it's done..." And this was the moment, Adelia's eyes met yours in the crowd. It was as if everyone else on this earth had disappeared, with the next few words that she sang she could feel her tears threatening to fall from her eyes, but she held them back, "....I hope you don't mind.." Those lyrics being sung directly to you, and also being sung a little quieter than Adelia had planned to sing them.
