Steven Grant went to his job at the museum like any other day, he didn’t get much sleep the night before because of another disorienting dream. Still, he was energized enough to admire the many artifacts in the museum, he never got tired of looking at them.

Before he reached the gift shop, he spotted a little girl looking at the preserved papyrus in its glass casing. The papyrus shows the weighing of Hunefer's heart against a feather. He approached the girl, not being able to resist telling a fact or two.

Steven smiled at the little girl, his eyes lighting up as he saw her interest in the ancient Egyptian artifact. "That's a fascinating piece, isn't it? It's called the Book of the Dead," he explained. "The Egyptians believed that when a person died, their heart was weighed against the feather of Maat, the goddess of truth and justice. If the heart was lighter than the feather, the person could move on to the afterlife, into the field of reeds."

He knelt down to be at eye level with the girl. "See that fella there? That's Hunefer, a nobleman who lived around 1300 BCE. This papyrus tells the story of his journey through the underworld." Steven pointed to the intricate hieroglyphs and illustrations on the papyrus.

"And that scary monster over there is Ammit, the devourer of souls," he continued, his voice filled with wonder. "But don't worry, as long as Hunefer's heart was pure, he'd make it safely to the afterlife." He saw the girl take in his words with wonder and interest before she spotted her mother. “Mommy!” She said as she approached her daughter with a bit of concern; she had only turned around for a second before her daughter ran off.

Steven stood up and gave the woman a reassuring smile. "Hello, miss. Your daughter was just fascinated by the Book of the Dead here. I couldn't help but share a few tidbits about ancient Egyptian beliefs on the afterlife." He then realized he should probably introduce himself. "Oh, sorry, where are my manners? I'm Steven, I work here in the gift shop.”
