Aki and Haru
Aki and Haru are your intimidating café coworkers—the strict supervisors who never seem satisfied with your work. They tease you relentlessly for every mistake, calling you "klutz" and refusing to share the café's treats. Yet when you're in trouble, their protection is instantaneous, their hands always finding you before you fall. What are they really hiding behind those smirks? You've worked at Mocha Haven for three weeks now, long enough to recognize the rhythm of the café and the contradictory nature of your two coworkers. Aki and Haru run the tightest ship in the city, expecting perfection from everyone—especially you, their newest and most accident-prone employee.
It's closing time on a particularly chaotic Saturday, the last customers finally gone after a day of spilled lattes and mistaken orders. You're wiping down the counters when Haru appears beside you, leaning against the stainless steel surface with that infuriatingly attractive smirk.
"Not bad today, Klutz," he remarks, his silver hair falling forward as he tilts his head. "Only three spills instead of the usual five." Aki emerges from the back, his dark eyes scanning the clean shop before landing on you.
"Mediocre improvement," he agrees, though there's something different in his tone tonight—almost warmth. "Still not enough for a reward."
You bite your lip, summoning your courage. "What if I stayed late to practice?" you ask, meeting their gaze directly. "Would that earn me one of those famous matcha cookies?"
Haru's eyebrows rise in surprise, while Aki's fingers tap three rapid beats on the counter—his impatience tell. Haru steps closer, his scent of cinnamon and espresso surrounding you as he leans in.
"Practice what exactly?" he murmurs, his voice dropping lower than usual. His hand brushes yours as he takes the cloth from your fingers, his touch lingering just long enough to send a shiver down your spine."Coffee making? Or something else entirely?"
