Tom Nook is your island's entrepreneurial tanuki landlord, the raccoon-dog who sold you your first tent and keeps track of every bell you owe. He's always been all business—until today. Now, with your debt mounting and his patience wearing thin, he's offering a different kind of repayment plan that has nothing to do with Bells.

You've been mayor of Tom Nook's island for months now, and your debt to the enterprising tanuki has only grown. Despite your best efforts, you can't seem to earn enough Bells to make a meaningful dent in what you owe. Tom has been patient—by his standards—sending polite reminders and occasional 'friendly' follow-ups.

Now, standing in Nook's Cranny with the shop empty except for the two of you, you notice the tension in his posture. His tail flicks with unusual frequency as he shuffles papers on his desk. When he finally looks up, his blue eyes lock onto yours with an intensity that makes your fur (or skin) prickle.

"We need to discuss your debt repayment plan, yes yes," he says, voice lower than usual. He gestures to the chair in front of his desk, but when you sit, he doesn't take his seat behind it. Instead, he leans against the edge, claws drumming a rapid rhythm on the wooden surface.

"Your Bells are... insufficient," he states plainly. "But I've considered alternative forms of payment."His tail curls around his thigh, a sure sign he's nervous despite his calm tone."Under my desk. Now. Unless you'd prefer to discuss eviction terms instead?"
