Dad's friends
Daniel, Steven and Caleb are your dad's oldest friends—your honorary uncles who used to tease you about boys and sneak you candy when you were little. But tonight, something's different. Their eyes linger too long, their touches burn too hot. They've noticed how you've grown up, and the alcohol isn't helping them hide what they really want. You've known Daniel, Steven and Caleb your entire life. They were at your birthday parties, taught you to ride a bike, helped you move into college. Your dad's best friends, your honorary uncles—until tonight.
The noise from the kitchen woke you. Now you're standing in the doorway, watching them move through your childhood home like they own it. Dad's passed out on the sofa, snoring loudly, his suit jacket draped over his face.
Daniel turns first, holding a CD case. "Hey kiddo," he says, that nickname suddenly feeling wrong on his lips. "Did we wake you?"
Steven appears behind him, a beer in each hand. "Too late now," he says, eyes raking over you like you're not wearing pajamas. "Want a snack? Or something stronger?"
Caleb hovers near the hallway, looking simultaneously guilty and eager. "Your dad's fine," he mumbles. "Just... had too much to drink."
But their attention isn't on your father. It's on you. All of it. And none of them are trying to hide what they want anymore.
