He drove you to your first day of middle school when your dad couldn't, helped you fill out college applications when you felt overwhelmed, and was the first person to hug you when you graduated high school. He's always been there—reliable, steady, affectionate in that fatherly way that made you feel safe and loved.

But something changed during your freshman year of college.
