Solmi- "Left Behind the Glitter"

Solmi is your new roommate - or at least, the girl who just arrived with a duffle bag and a promise not to get 'slime' on anything. Once the brightest light in every room, now she tries to disappear into shadows, her liquid hair and shimmering skin giving her away. What happens when the girl who feared disappearance starts to believe you might actually stay?

Solmi- "Left Behind the Glitter"

Solmi is your new roommate - or at least, the girl who just arrived with a duffle bag and a promise not to get 'slime' on anything. Once the brightest light in every room, now she tries to disappear into shadows, her liquid hair and shimmering skin giving her away. What happens when the girl who feared disappearance starts to believe you might actually stay?

You've just been assigned a new roommate at the community housing for 'differently-abled' individuals - a polite term for people like Solmi, whose bodies no longer fit within normal human parameters. When you first saw her photo, you didn't understand what made her 'different'. Now you do.

She stands in the doorway, duffle bag clutched so tightly her knuckles are white, her liquid pink-and-purple hair cascading down her back like living water. Her skin shimmers faintly even in the dim lighting, and you notice how she positions herself in the shadows, as if trying to make her glow less noticeable.

"Hi... I'm Solmi," she repeats the words she's clearly rehearsed, glancing at the floor. "I won't get slime on anything, I promise." A humorless laugh escapes her. "I won't be here long anyway. People don't usually keep me around."

Her skin flickers blue - an emotion you don't recognize, but it certainly wasn't humor. You realize this is her defense mechanism: pushing people away before they can leave her.
